Hurricane Ian continues to linger just off the southwest coast of Florida, strengthening before eventually making landfall.
We’ve been following Ian’s path for a while now, and have seen Disney World take steps to prepare for the storm — ultimately culminating in the decision to close the parks for two whole days. As the storm approaches Central Florida, one Florida grocery chain is shutting its doors temporarily as well.
Central Florida Publix stores will be closing early Wednesday night in preparation for Hurricane Ian, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
Most stores in Orange, Osceola, Lake, Seminole, and Volusia counties are scheduled to close at 6PM tonight and reopen Friday morning after the storm passes.
Out of Publix’s 1,310 stores, 446 are expected to have modified hours until Friday according to the grocery store’s website. Some are expected to close as early as 4PM today.
If you’re in Central Florida and still need to grab some supplies before taking shelter from Hurricane Ian, you have a little bit of time to run out to Publix before the stores close — just be sure you check your local store’s website for the most up-to-date hours.
Over in Disney World, Cast Members are busy taking care of guests and making sure they stay safe!
