It’s officially World Princess Week! The global event is done in celebration of the Disney princesses, highlighting their “courage and kindness” that has inspired the love of fans around the world.
To celebrate the momentous occasion, Disney has been debuting new treats, merchandise, and photo ops. And to get the week started, they picked a very special princess to kick off the event!
Cinderella herself, Brandy, was on hand at Disneyland Resort to get the party started! Brandy performed the official theme song of World Princess Week, “Starting Now”, in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle.
“Starting Now” was written by some familiar names, including Darren Criss, Jason Mater, and Jordan Powers.
Brandy’s appearance was extra special as 2022 is the 25th-anniversary of her beloved rendition of Cinderella! The Wonderful World of Disney special first premiered in 1997.
In honor of the anniversary, ABC will be airing a cast reunion, along with a presentation of the film. Fans will be able to watch Cinderella: The Reunion, A Special Edition of 20/20 tomorrow, August 23rd, at 8PM EST, followed by the film. The special will be available the following day on Hulu, and the movie is available to stream on Disney+.
