Her Universe, along with founder Ashley Eckstein and special guest co-host, drag icon Nina West, brought their trademark fashion show back to live programming at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.

They brought a Wizard of Oz-inspired theme “Coming Home.”

26 aspiring designers seized the runway and competed for an opportunity to design a Hot Topic fashion collection themed to the upcoming Marvel Universe film, The Marvels.

In between groups of contestants, Eckstein and West changed into outfits reminiscent of Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion.

While the judges deliberated over the many creative outfits, Eckstein presented looks from Her Universe’s new global Studio Ghibli Harajuku Collective Collection arriving in Japan August 10^th.  The Dynamic Duo once again made a quick outfit change into Captain Marvel-inspired dresses as they encouraged audience members to come up on the runway and go “Higher, Further, Faster” themselves.  They finally announced the night’s winners, who were Cindy Guillermo Heselton for her “Caged” look inspired by Turning Red’s Mei as the Judges winner, and Michael Burson for his “Doctor Strange Hellfire Gala” look inspired by Doctor Strange as the Audience winner.
