VIDEO: Behind-the-Scenes of an Epic New Disney Fireworks Show

Fireworks and nighttime spectaculars are a favorite part of many guests’ trips to a Disney park.

For Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, we saw two new nighttime shows hit the parks — Harmonious in EPCOT and Disney Enchantment in Magic Kingdom. Disney World isn’t the only spot with new fireworks offerings though. But to watch one of Disney’s newest fireworks shows, you’ll have to travel to a special spot!

Hong Kong Disneyland has announced the opening timeframe and a behind-the-scenes peek at their new fireworks show — Momentous!

Momentous will debut in Hong Kong Disneyland in mid-June of 2022.

Momentous is a show that will capture 6 chapters of life by showing the journeys of around 150 Disney characters(!!) from movies such as Peter Pan, Frozen, Zootopia, Coco, Up, and Tangled.

Overall the show will remind audience members to be grateful for their life experiences and those they live life with, as they look forward to an “encouraging future.”

The show will follow the journey of life from the joy of childhood to moments later in life, reminiscing about those who have helped us along the way.

Momentous combines, projections, fireworks, flames, lighting and laser effects, pyrotechnics, and choreographed fountains to bring the show to life! This will actually be the first time at Hong Kong Disneyland that large-scale projection mapping technology “will be used to bring the Castle of Magical Dreams to life.”

Chapters 1-3 are considered to be in the “Grow with Disney Characters” portion of the show, while Disney calls Chapter 4 “Sweetest moments in life,” Chapter 5 “Test of time — challenges in life,” and Chapter 6 “Share your gratitude — Time to remember.” Then there will be a finale where “guests will see the characters empowered to live a life full of adventure, love, and friendship: a celebration of all the moments that define Disney characters’ lives.”

The music of the show will feature “new arrangements of familiar Disney tunes,” and an original song called “Love the Memory.”
