PHOTOS: This Small Change Means BIG Things for Disney World Transportation

Oh, Magical Express, how we’ll miss you! The complimentary bus service between Disney World and the Orlando International Airport is in its last days of operation, with paid services like Mears Connect set to replace it in 2022.

Disney’s Magical Express

Today, we spotted a big sign (literally) that the Magical Express was on its way out.

Over at the Contemporary Resort, we spotted a change: the sign for the complimentary Magical Express, which is set to be discontinued at the end of 2021, has officially been switched out for a new sign for airport shuttles, which will include Mears Connect and The Sunshine Flyer, two of the new replacements for Magical Express.

This is what the sign looked like before.

And this is what it looks like now.

That’s new!

Mears Connect is set to launch in 2022 with a new, paid service between Disney World and the Orlando International Airport, offering both standard and express transport. With standard, it costs $16 per adult and $13.50 per child for one-way trips or $32 per adult and $27 per child for round-trip service. With express, it costs $250 for four passengers and $55 for each extra passenger. Mears Connect previously operated the Magical Express service and we’ve already started spotting the Mears buses around Disney World.

The Sunshine Flyer is also set to launch in early 2022 with a similar paid service between Disney World and the airport, offering only a standard option. A standard trip on The Sunshine Flyer will cost you $17 per adult and $12.50 per child for one-way trips or $34 per adult and $25 per child for round-trip service.

If buses aren’t your style, how about a train? Brightline is set to construct a new rail service that will take you from the Orlando International Airport to Disney Springs, but the project won’t be done until about 2026.

  1. I don’t know why you keep bringing up the train. Another article implied the cost would be like $8.00 for a one way ride. This train is at least 4 years away. At least. And does anyone think the train will be $8.00? If someone can afford a $100 a day park ticket, I doubt they would look at , if it turns out to be true, an $8.00 train ride to Disney Springs and having to get your luggage and transfer to a bus VS a $17. bus ride to the front door of the resort.

  2. I am glad they are dropping magical express. So many times I had to wait for our luggage to be delivered to our room.
An added plus is that I can now take a taxi without having a busload of screaming kids.
