It brings our hearts much sadness to report that actor Ed Asner, known for his role as Carl in UP, has passed away.

Ed passed away due to natural causes on Sunday morning and was surrounded by his family.
His family posted, from his Twitter account, “We are sorry to say that our beloved patriarch passed away this morning peacefully. Words cannot express the sadness we feel. With a kiss on your head- Goodnight dad. We love you.”
Disney shared a few words as well, “Ed was our real life Carl Fredricksen: a veneer of grouch over an incredibly loving and kind human being. Russell, Dug, and all of us at Pixar will miss him terribly.”

Ed Asner was best known for his role as Lou Grant on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. He is also known for his iconic portrayal of Santa Clause in the Christmas favorite Elf with Will Ferrell.

Ed Asner is celebrated as the male performer with the most Emmy wins in history, with seven. He has also received the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award in 2001.

Our thoughts are with Ed and his family during this time. Thank you Ed for always reminding us that ‘Adventure is out there!’ You will be missed.
I’m surprised you don’t have Hudson in Disney’s Gargoyles. Such a great show and Asher was fantastic. I remember the interviews with him saying he loved doing the show. Besides that, I think of Lou Grant and Santa. I will forever love the lines: Oh, don’t pay attention to Leon. He’s never been anywhere. He doesn’t have any feet!
