Check Out the Treats Coming to Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights This Year

The start of Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights is creeping up on us! Beginning on Friday, September 3rd, 30 Years 30 Fears will take over Universal Studios and horrify guests throughout the night.

Halloween Horror Night 2021

In between all those scares, guests can grab a bite to eat from one of six specialty Halloween Horror Nights food locations, with over 20 spellbinding treats to choose from.

This year’s desserts are each inspired by the various Scare Zones and Halloween Horror Nights Houses, like, The Haunting of Hill House, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Bride of Frankenstein, and some infamous Halloween Horror Nights icons, like this guy:

Now, here’s a look at some of the treats coming to Universal this year.

Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House:

This first food location was inspired by the Red Room tea party in Netflix’s “The Haunting of Hill House.”  Guests can munch on a bite-sized sandwich, then finish off their snack with some poisoned tea! The Haunting of Hill House snacks include:

©Universal Stuffed Brisket Grilled Cheese
  • Stuffed Brisket Grilled Cheese: Shaved smoked brisket and pepper jack cheese, topped with pickled onions, Davina tomatoes, and garlic aioli served on country loaf bread
  • Jalapeño Bacon Grilled Cheese: Bacon-wrapped stuffed jalapeño poppers and cheddar cheese pressed between fresh country loaf bread
  • Tempeh Reuben and Sauerkraut: Tempeh, vegan swiss cheese, and sauerkraut drizzled with 1000 Island dressing on rye bread
  • Poison Tea Party: An iced tea and lemonade-based rum punch with mountain huckleberry and allspice notes

That spiked tea may look innocent, but it has a sinister twist…

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre:

Inspired by Leatherface’s beloved chainsaw, this food location is full of meats that have been carved just for you.

©Universal Roasted Lamb Spit
  • Roasted Lamb Spit: Juicy lamb fresh off the spit served with spiced garlic pickles and white bread
  • Severed Ribs: Delicious sliced sticky ribs with BBQ sauce

The Bride of Frankenstein:

This next location is full of German classics in black & white, just like the Bride of Frankenstein herself.

  • Bride of Frankenstein’s Swirl: Soft serve swirled in a black waffle cone
  • Flammkuchen: Crispy flatbread topped with crème fraiche, thinly sliced onions, and smoked bacon
  • Reibekuchen: Savory potato pancake with apple sauce, crispy pumpernickel crumble, crème fraiche, and chives

Jack the Clown (the original Halloween Horror Nights icon):

If you’re at all familiar with Halloween Horror Nights, you probably recognize the name Jack the Clown. This year, Universal is paying tribute to that evil carnival clown with a twisted take on some classic carnival foods.

  • Jack’d Donut Slider: Black Angus beef patty topped with bacon jam and American cheese on bourbon-glazed donuts
  • Dr. Pinetti’s Confetti Battered Oreos: Oreo cookies hand-dipped in confetti cake batter, fried, and dusted with powdered sugar
  • Tiny’s Twinkies: Deep-fried hand-battered Twinkies with cream filling topped with powdered sugar

The Wicked Growth: Realm of the Pumpkin:

These aren’t your typical, friendly pumpkins! This spot honors the Pumpkin Lord who is lurking nearby…

  • Field of Screams Gyoza: Dumplings filled with spicy ground turkey and butternut squash
  • Pumpkin Guts (vegan): Sautéed zucchini and butternut squash noodles with hazelnut “brown butter,” sage, parsley, and toasted hazelnuts and pumpkin seeds served out of a squash ring
  • Dulce Pumpkin Spiced Churro: A dessert favorite filled with flavors of the season and the popular caramelized milk confection

The Revenge of the Tooth Fairy:

We don’t think that this tooth fairy is quite as sweet as the treats you can get here…

©Universal Bourbon Candied Pork Belly
  • Bourbon Candied Pork Belly: Skewered thick-cut bacon coated in an apple bourbon candy coating
  • Monte Cristo Waffle Stick: Waffle on a stick filled with ham and swiss cheese covered in powdered sugar and raspberry melba
  • Beer Floats complete with vanilla soft-serve ice cream, whipped cream and topped with either a dried orange wheel or large pieces of peanut brittle

These beer floats may put you on cloud nine, but look out for the tooth fairy and her evil lair while you’re up in the clouds!

Rest assured, Halloween Horror Nights fans, some annual fan-favorite food items are returning, like:

  • Pizza Fries: A Halloween Horror Nights staple, these “must-try” fries are piled high with sausage, pepperoni, marinara sauce, and loads of cheese
  • S’mores Fries: Pizza fries with a twist! These sweet potato fries are drizzled with melted chocolate, graham cracker crumbs, and marshmallows
  • Twisted Tater: Choose from traditional flavors, including Sour Cream and Chive, Seasoned Salt, Garlic Parmesan, or Ghost Pepper, or try the Blood ‘n Guts Twisted Tater with chili and roasted red pepper queso

Over on Universal CityWalk, Voodoo Doughnut’s will also offer some special treats like the  Bride of Frankenstein marble cake doughnut…
