Check Out the REAL Story Disney/Pixar’s ‘Luca’ Was Based On!

Last month, Luca released on Disney+ and in theaters! The movie follows Luca, Alberto, and Giulia’s story of friendship and adventure in the Italian Riviera.

Recently, Enrico Casarosa, director of Luca, revealed how his childhood inspired the movie.

On Disney’s official Twitter account, Enrico Casarosa shared how his story helped create Luca’s story! Growing up in Italy, Casarosa was very shy and only came out of his shell because of a much bolder friend (sound familiar?).

On summer trips to the Italian Riviera, Casarosa would hear stories about sea monsters and all sorts of other mysteries held in the ocean, inspiring the sea monster secret identities Luca and Alberto have.

Casarosa credits his success in life to the encouragement of his bold friend and wanted to dedicate this film to their friendship! Remembering the stories of sea monsters and trips to the Riviera from his childhood, Casarosa brought it all together and made Luca
