After being shut down for so long due to the pandemic, a lot of companies have been slowly reopening over this last year.
Among them are the Universal Orlando theme parks! And today, NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell shared just how many visitors the theme park has hosted since reopening.
Universal Orlando reopened a little more than a year ago with limited park capacity and safety measures like social distancing markers and mask mandates.
Despite the restraints, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal has now seen more than 11 million guests enter the parks since their reopening! This includes almost no international visitors (probably due to the continued restrictions on international travel), which usually would account for “20-25 percent-plus of attendees.”
The Universal parks have been hitting their capacity and meeting (or sometimes exceeding!) 2019 guest attendance, similar to what Disney has said about their own attendance. CEO Jeff Shell even noted that, “This summer is looking pretty strong”, as the company has just opened the brand new VelociCoaster roller coaster.
