Universal Orlando to Change Social Distancing and Remove Temperature Checks

It’s been almost a year since Universal Orlando reopened to guests, and many health and safety measures have been changed since then.

In the theme parks currently, guests go through a temperature screening before entering the park, and there are ground markers throughout spacing parties 6 feet apart. Now, though, Universal Orlando is making some changes to these health and safety measures.

Following the announcement that Disney World would begin phasing out temperature screenings, Universal Orlando has also decided to remove temperature screenings according to News 6. This will be effective starting tomorrow May 6th.

Last week, the Director of the Florida Department of Health in Orange County made a statement suggesting that temperature checks are an unnecessary safety precaution at this time.

The Mayor of Orange County announced a three phase plan, and the first phase has gone into effect. In this phase, physical distancing can be reduced from 6 feet to 3 feet. Universal Orlando will be changing distancing markers to 3 feet.

Universal Orlando released a statement saying “The health and safety of our guests and team members is always our top priority. We continue to review the CDC guidelines and work with local health officials as we update our health and safety protocols,” a Universal spokeswoman said in a statement. “Based on guidance from government and local health officials, as of Thursday, May 6, we are implementing three feet of social distancing throughout our destination and are no longer conducting temperature checks. All other existing health and safety protocols will remain in place.”
