Flexibility has been the name of the game for the Walt Disney Company over the past year.

And, adapting to change hasn’t only applied to reopening the theme parks — Disney has also had to make decisions about where to debut upcoming movies. It has been a bit of a mix when it comes to where you can find the newest releases with some debuting directly on Disney+, others costing an additional fee on Disney+ initially, and others premiering both in theaters and on Disney+ for a fee. And, as Disney looks at future film releases, they are changing up the plan for one of their upcoming animated films.

According to Variety, Luca will now premiere directly on Disney+ and will be free as part of the subscription service, meaning that it will not arrive in theaters at all. This is the same approach that Disney used when releasing Pixar’s Soul and they saw quite a bit of success with it.

Luca follows the story of two young boys who adventure through a small Italian town one summer. The only thing is, they are actually sea creatures who only appear as humans on dry land. The boys have to avoid being caught in their sea-form but still manage to have a lot of fun.
