We received a whole lot of news yesterday regarding the future of the Disney company!

Along with the opening dates for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and La Crêperie de Paris, Disney also provided more information on Disneyland’s reopening and the Disney Cruise Line’s sailings. But, there were also discussions about Disney’s entertainment sector and the decisions that have recently been made for the company.
During the Walt Disney Company’s Shareholder Meeting, CEO Bob Chapek commented on Gina Carano’s firing from The Mandalorian after her social media controversy. Chapek was questioned about this particular situation as he discussed the current political environment’s affect on Disney.

He stated that the nation has been fiercely divided recently. Yet, Disney believes that, “The fact is that we have a tremendous opportunity now to bring this country back together and unite people. One thing we can all agree on is the power of Disney to unite us all.”

Chapek went on to say that Disney wanted to stand for “values that are universal”, like “decency” and “integrity”, while also making “content that is reflective of the rich diversity of the world that we live in.”

Disney+ has continued to garner more viewers, reaching more than 100 million subscribers around the world. When asked if the box office revenue increase and recent situations would affect Kathleen Kennedy’s position as president of Lucasfilm, Chapek stated that it wouldn’t. He continued to emphasize that he was “absolutely thrilled” with Kennedy’s performance. In fact, Disney will “look forward to having Kathy directing the activities of the entire Lucasfilm operation for many years to come.”

One reason I won’t support Disney. They’re NARROW MINDED…anything BUT open-minded. Walt’s probably rolling over in his grave.. ?
Agree 100%,miss the old Disney for sure, too political. I just want entertainment from Disney, I can think for myself , thank you very much.
Diversity in everything but thought.
