Last week we learned that Universal has been making some progress on its affordable housing project after creating a shortlist of potential developers.

Well, there’s also a Disney-related housing project sharing some important announcements! The new Flamingo Crossings Village apartment community was originally intended to be used as a fifth housing option for participants of the Disney College Program. However, since the college program is suspended indefinitely, these apartments are now available to another group!
Apartments in Flamingo Crossings Village are now available for Disney Cast Members to lease! That’s right, this new apartment complex is specifically for Cast Members and Disney’s Operating Participants. In addition to the apartments, a Town Center is also to be built in this area, filled with tons of restaurants and businesses.

The complex is currently offering 2 and 4-bedroom fully furnished apartments that offer amenities like a fitness center, basketball and volleyball courts, swimming pools, and more. Plus, the location of Flamingo Crossings Village is super convenient for Cast Members, located within a 15-minute drive of Disney’s parks.

This housing seems like a convenient opportunity for Cast Members and Operating Participants looking for a new place to live! The complex just opened today and plenty more information can be found on their website. You can find out more via their Instagram as well.

So the 4 bed / 4 bath is $699 per “installment”/per person. That seems reasonable compared to finding a 1 bedroom that close to WDW. The average rent for a 1 bedroom apartment in Orlando, FL is over $1,000. If I read it correctly these are essentially “dorm rooms” for cast members. What is not clear is do they need to find 4 people for the lease or does the complex just assign people to units. Ah, to be young again.
