One of the most magical parts of a Disney vacation is getting to meet all of your favorite characters!

Even though we can’t get up close to our Disney character friends right now, Disney’s been creative about finding ways to allow us to interact. We’ve got cavalcades in the parks and modified character dining all around Walt Disney World Resort. And, as of today, characters have returned to a popular dining location at a Disney resort!
Chef Mickey’s at Disney’s Contemporary Resort reopened back in July sans characters, but with an updated family-style menu. Disney then announced in October that Mickey and his friends would once again be greeting guests on December 16th, and “Oh boy!” that’s today!

Things are a bit different, but it just feels natural to have characters at this restaurant, and we’re glad to see them back!

Guests were asked to use social distancing measures before entering the restaurant by wearing masks and using the markers on the ground.

Plexiglass barriers were stationed around the check-in area, where we were taken to our table.

When we were seated, we were given a paper menu to look at the alcoholic cocktails and seasonal drinks…

…as well as non-alcoholic specialty drinks and featured favorites.

Guests are able to use the QR code to directly view the menu on their mobile devices.

Although Chef Mickey’s has had a buffet experience in the past, the restaurant is following health and safety protocols by only allowing the servers to visit the food area currently. However, once you have ordered what you’d like, they will be happy to return for seconds on your favorite items!

As we got our forks and knives ready…

…with coffee on board (of course)…

…we were ready to dig into our FEAST!

Some of the menu items include the Celebration Mickey Pancake…

…Banana Bread French Toast…

…and more Traditional Selections. That means you can dig into crispy bacon, beef brisket, sausage, scrambled eggs, Mickey Waffles…

…fresh fruit, a yogurt parfait, and more!

Even though we were hyped for the food, the main event was just around the corner as we saw Mickey and his friends come out in their best chef outfits! Pluto looked just as excited to see us as were to see him…

…while Donald seemed like he had been working really hard in the kitchen to bring us our amazing breakfast.

Goofy welcomed everyone to Chef Mickey’s with a flourish…

…as Minnie twirled around to the music!

Of course, we couldn’t forget the man (er, mouse) of the hour as Chef Mickey himself was a sight for sore eyes once again at the restaurant!

A day with Mickey Mouse is a day well spent, and we’re glad to see things returning to usual at this dining location, even if they’re a tad altered. Stay tuned to AllEars for more info on dining at Disney World and park news!
