San Diego County as well as Orange County have recently come off of California’s state monitoring list, which allows certain businesses to reopen.

With outdoor zoos and aquariums among those businesses permitted to reopen, SeaWorld San Diego has announced that a limited reopening will begin later this week.
10 News in San Diego has reported that the park will begin its partial reopening on Friday August 28th with “Zoo Days: Bayside BBQ & Brews.” The event is a ticketed event and advance reservations are required.

The event will include the following, according to SeaWorld’s website:
- A Bayside BBQ & Brews Tasting Lanyard valid for chef-created BBQ, craft and domestic beer, wine, cocktails or non-alcoholic beverages of your choice (up to 6 selections per lanyard)
- Access to Open-air Animal Exhibits such as Sea Lion Point, Otter Outlook, Dolphin Point and Explorer’s Reef Touch Pools
- Animal Presentations such as Dolphin, Sea Lion and the educational Orca Encounter, with physically distant seating
- Sesame Street® Character Meet-and-Greets – Wave hello and take photos with your favorite furry friends!

Under the current state mandate, theme parks are not permitted to reopen, so rides and other theme park attractions will not be available in this initial reopening phase.
Health and safety regulations will be in place, including required face masks for all guests ages 2 and up, temperature screening, increased sanitization and physical distancing measurements. For more information on SeaWorld San Diego’s safety implementations, you can check out their website.

Operating days and hours are also limited. The event will run Friday through Sunday from August 28th to September 27th, including Labor Day. Hours will be 11AM to 7PM. Tickets are on sale now at $74.99 for adults and $64.99 for children (ages 3-9).
