We know that we certainly haven’t been able to get enough of Disney+, but that got us thinking.
What have you, our dear readers, been watching?! What are your top picks for movies and original content? What do you want to see added next? And also: what are you snacking on while you watch (we ask all the important questions)?
We polled our readers over on our Instagram and were flooded with responses! So let’s see what you, the AllEars audience, think of Disney+!
What is Your FAVORITE Original Disney+ Content?
Winner: The Imagineering Story
Surprisingly, the top pick was The Imagineering Story! And we have to agree! We were positively captivated by this well-crafted look behind the curtain of Imagineering. Sure, it painted everything a bit more positively overall that it likely went down (cough cough…the Eisner Years) but we loved this show.
Runner Up: The Mandalorian
The close runner up (and honestly what we pegged to come in first here!) was The Mandalorian. We thought for sure Baby Yoda was going to sweep this category! But fellow Disney history nerds like us have spoken! That said, Jon Favreau’s Mandalorian is arguably some of the best original Star Wars content to come out since Luke overlooked those twin suns setting on Tatooine. We can’t wait for the second season!
Honorable Mention: One Day at Disney, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series
What Was the FIRST Thing You Watched on Disney+?
Winner: The Mandalorian
Baby Yoda for the win! Many of you wrote in that the first stop on your Disney+ binging was watching the adventures of Mando and Baby Yoda! Again, we can’t blame ya! It’s a really good, quality show.
Runner Up: Live-Action Lady and the Tramp
One of the more heavily hyped original films to come out with the release of Disney+, many of you were happy to first tune in to see what a live-action Lady and her scruffy beau Tramp would be like.
Honorable Mention: a four-way tie between The Imagineering Story, Forky Asks a Question, A Goofy Movie, and the 90’s Disney Afternoon Cartoon Adventures of the Gummi Bears. What a lineup there!
What are You Currently Watching?
Winner: Lizzie McGuire
Totally dominating this category, Lizzie McGuire was your number one show that you’re watching currently! Never underestimate the power of nostalgia! Maybe some of you are mourning the new Disney+ show being put on hold and getting your fill of the oldies?
Runner Up: The Star Wars Films
Yep, many of you reported that you’re currently making your way through the adventures of Luke and Leia (some of you even are big fans of Darth Maul!) in a galaxy far, far away!
Honorable Mention: a three-way tie between Kristen Bell’s theatre show Encore, The Clone Wars animated series (we just shared the final season’s release date!), and the follow up to the 90’s hit Boy Meets World starring Cory and Topanga’s daughter: Girl Meets World.
What are You Eating While You Watch Disney+?
(Yes, we’re asking the hard-hitting questions here, folks. The people need to know!)
Winner: Popcorn
Not surprisingly, the favorite movie snack reigns supreme here. It wasn’t even really a contest. Popcorn basically swept the category.
Runner Up: Ice Cream
We feel ya. Nothing like some ice cream and some tv time!
Honorable Mention: Chips, cookies, Cheez-its, wine (my kinda peoples). We have follow up questions for one answer we got: grape juice!
Favorite Old School Content on Disney+
Winner: Lizzie McGuire
This is what dreams are made of! Lizzie McGuire dominated this category! Clearly the inner thoughts and struggles of a teenage girl and her family were well-loved by a generation!
Runner Up: a tie between the old Mickey Mouse animated shorts and Kim Possible!
If you add it to Disney+, they will come! We were pleased to see a number of you enjoy the old Mickey Mouse shorts from back in the day. Many of us enjoyed these when we were younger, and it’s great to see them available to the next generation!
And much like Lizzie McGuire, the nostalgia is big for you fans of early 2000s shows. Kim Possible got a respectable number of votes.
Honorable Mention: (this made my heart happy) Old DuckTales (woohoo!) and Chip and Dale’s Rescue Rangers! Long live the Disney Afternoon!
Content You Want ASAP on Disney+
Winner: Frozen 2
Not a contest here. The people demand Frozen 2! Either you have a young child who is obsessed with all things Frozen and you’re desperately waiting for it to be available on Disney+ for them or maybe you’re just an awesome adult looking to belt out “Into the Unknown” with Elsa in the privacy of your home. No judgment here! Whatever the reason, Frozen 2 is hands down the winner.
Runner Up: Toy Story 4
If you weren’t itching for Frozen 2, you were likely demanding Woody, Bo Peep, Gabby Gabby, and pals show up on your tv screens at home! Not trailing too far behind Frozen 2, many of you want the final adventures of Woody and Buss available on Disney+. [Editor’s note: Toy Story 4 is now available! Go! Watch! After you finish reading, of course!]
Honorable Mention: a tie between more Mandalorian (it’s coming!) or Ralph Breaks the Internet (that feels like ages ago it was in theatres, right, but it’s currently on Netflix, so we might have to wait a bit.)
Favorite Movie on Disney+
This was our most subjective category, yet some favorites still rose to the top!
Winner: Princess and the Frog
Dreams DO come true in New Orleans! It may not have received the critical acclaim Disney hoped when it was released, but many of you said your favorite movie was the last traditionally animated feature from Disney Animation. Many of you love following along with the adventures of Tiana in “The City That Care Forgot” and so do we!
Runner Up: A Goofy Movie
We totally get it. Powerline is awesome. Good luck getting “Stand Out” out of your head after watching this! We’re glad to see a number of folks still loving Goofy and his son, Max! Time for a leaning tower of cheeza!
Honorable Mention: an eclectic tie! Pirates of the Caribbean, Toy Story, The Lion King, and The Parent Trap!
