We recently reported on initial test appearances of R2-D2 at the west coast version of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Today, we’re pleased to report that testing is over, and Artoo is now out and about in the park!

We’ve also gotten word that testing has begun at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the grand appearance of the original Astromech!

R2-D2 doesn’t have a set appearance schedule. Like Chewbacca, Rey, and Kylo Ren, he’s just wandering around the park. You’ll probably find him in the Resistance Outpost, or near Ohnaka Transport Solutions.

R2 is fully interactive and will pose with guests, hum, beep, and do all sorts of adorable droid things. He’s also identical to the $25,000 custom astromechs at Droid Depot,  making this the first Disney character encounter you can literally take home as a souvenir.

For our East Coast Crew, R2 has also been spotted roaming around Launch Bay Cargo at Hollywood Studios.

It’s just a matter of time before R2 makes an appearance in Batuu East!
