Review of 1900 Park Fare Character Breakfast

This had always been one of our favorites. I don't know if it was something "special" Disney was doing around the holidays or if this is just the new normal...but 1900 Park Fare breakfast was not the same.
For starters...we noticed the lobster benedict and the bagel spread with the dill cream cheese and lox cream cheese were missing. We had an 8am ADR...so I wouldn't expect anything to be just gone at this point. It also bothered me because these were some of the pricier options on the old buffet and it's one of several meals we've noticed Disney removing the better items. It really bothers me to no end when they continue to raise prices yet give you lesser food.
The biggest food issue though was some very familiar items. We had dinner at 1900 PF at the beginning of our trip. We noticed several items from the dinner buffet were also on the breakfast buffet. A few of the items (like the farro and feta salad) were things I really liked at dinner, so I figured I'd give it it a try. The taste and texture reminded me of a feta rice dish I make and how it tastes and feels after it's been sitting in the fridge drying out overnight. Yeah...I'm pretty sure Disney slapped the word "brunch" on our 8am meal and recycled food leftover from dinner. The ADR name changed from breakfast to brunch at the last minute, but changing the name for an 8am meal still doesn't excuse this. Disgustingly shameful!
On top of this...the characters were back to back and rushing through every single meeting. They were all taking an average of 30-45 seconds per table. We watched them all in a line, moving like a machine. It was never like this before.
Things were paced so quickly with the characters that many people were paid and leaving at the 30 minute mark. We were done at 40 minutes...and that was a struggle. We were trying to work in a little extra food because we were about to drive home.
This also marks pretty much the only time we've talked to a Disney chef about food allergies and they didn't really have a good grasp on things. Not the most comforting feeling when you're just asking for clarification.
All in all, it makes me sad with what they've done to what used to be a great character meal. We won't be going back.

We rented a stroller from Kingdom along with buying a couple of cases of water. I have nothing but excellent things to say. The stroller was waiting for us when we got off the Magic Express along with our cases of water. The stroller came with a cooler which we kept full of ice and the water bottles in the storage under the stroller. It came with a very nice displayed name tag, along with a ran cover. ALL INCLUDED with the price of the rental. Then when our trip was over (Boo) we just left the stroller at the front desk and Kingdom just picked it up. The stroller was extremely clean, very easy to push, and folded with just one hand. Excellent, excellent, excellent.
Pros:
Clean, easy to use, delivered to my resort and picked upCons:

My husband and I stayed at POFQ for the first time from 2/27/18 to 3/3/18. We usually stay at POR, but wanted to try a smaller resort due to our mobility issues.
When we arrived, the front desk CM was very helpful and friendly. We found that all the CM's at FQ were friendly.
We got a newly refurbished room in bldg. 2 and it was very nice. Loved the laminate flooring, new bigger tv, pedestal beds, everything about it. There were nice subtle French quarter touches but nothing garish. I didn't think I would like the refurbs, but it was beautiful.
The food court is small but has a wide range of selections and there were plenty of places to sit and eat. We preferred eating outside at a table.
The bus stop was fine. Early in the AM it is crowded, as is expected. Our longest wait was 20 minutes, most were 10 min.
We loved the ambience of fFQ from the cobblestone "streets" to the courtyards and fountains. We have found our new home at WDW and will be back.

We went for an early dinner and got seated right away. It was fun to see how well the power plant theme was carried out. When there's no live entertainment they project old silent black & white comedies on the walls. Service was just okay. We loved the Balls in a Box, which are tasty lamb meatballs in a tomato sauce, for an appetizer. Other tables had the bacon on a clothesline, which also looked good. But the very best thing of all is the Black Cherry Milkshake, huge enough for two people to share (at $16 it better be). So good!!! Read carefully what comes with your entree. We thought it was too bad there aren't more veggies on the plate, and there are no small side salads on the menu, but if you ask really nicely for one they'll do a smaller version of one of their entree-sized salads. Other accompaniments cost extra, too, like many upscale steakhouses tend to do now; but definitely a dearth of healthy veggies.
Pros:
Good food, great atmosphereCons:

Stayed in a one bedroom villa in Jan 18. Room was ready when we arrived at noon. Cast members are friendly, room was clean, housekeeping OK but they forgot to leave more detergent for me on Trash and Towel day. House keeping did come in every day to remove trash but we never saw them- very efficient. Bus service was fine. Did not try the new breakfast service at Saana but it looked good. It was difficult to drive to the resort on our arrival day as it was the marathon, but detours were clearly marked. My credit card was not attached to the Magic Band despite online check in. This is the second time this has happened, once before at OKW.

I have made 2 trips here to eat, the last in Jan 18. Love the antipasto salad. It is huge. Have also tried the meatball sub which is also very good and served with a side of Caesar salad. The seating is ample and the decor very well done. Like having napkins on every table. Also restrooms upstairs and downstairs.

Cape May no longer offers the wide selection of foods every day that it used to offer, so check to make sure that they are serving what you want before making reservations. That said, the food is well prepared and plentiful. I tend to stick with crab legs, shrimp, any other shellfish, salads and vegetables, and have no reason to complain. Fin fish tends to be overcooked and ordinary. I've never tried any of the meat selections. Desserts are ordinary. This is not fine dining, but if you like unlimited seafood, it's a treat.
Be prepared for lots of little kids running all over the place. The restaurant was not all that loud, but kids really were running and not watching who they crashed into.

Three adults ate at Columbia Harbor House and, other than having to wait in a long line in a crowded ordering area, we had a pleasant experience. I use a cane and was not able to get upstairs with my tray of food. A very kind staff member looked through the first floor and found us a table. Stellar and unexpected service; otherwise I was going to sit outside on a wall to eat. I had the lobster roll and enjoyed it. It looked small but was plenty for me. The accompanying chips were good and I ate more of them than I intended. Nice experience overall.

A cut above Panda Express, the beef stir-fry was good and the serving adequate for lunch. The ordering queue is poorly organized and seating is inadequate and all outside. Still, Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes is a quick lunch option with decent selections, different from the usual hamburgers, chicken nuggets and flatbreads offered at so many Disney fast food establishments.

It was a busy December afternoon when arriving for lunch. We were able to get away from some of the noise by choosing a window seat in the upstairs area. My son ordered the chicken strips---enough for 2 meals for a little guy. I ordered the chicken pot pie and string beans. In the past, the chicken pot pie has been absolutely delicious! This time, there was a lot of black pepper in the dish. Unfortunately, I'm sensitive to pepper, so I actually couldn't eat the meal and ended up throwing most of it away. There were many other choices that I'll try instead next time.
