Review of Yak and Yeti Restaurant

Our family of 4 ate here on 3/28. We did have reservations for 8 pm. Our waitress was Kim and she was friendly and knowledgeable. She didn't rush us even though the restaurant was pretty busy. This is a Landry's restaurant so if your a member you can take advantage of those perks.
We started with the lettuce cups which had good flavor. Even our DD 12 tried them and liked it. The appetizers were too "weird " for our 14 y.o son. I ordered the pink yeti drink which was not too sweet & not too sour. I really enjoyed that!
I ordered a special menu item Sirracha spiced fish tacos. It was a battered and fried cod tossed in Sirracha sauce served with a slaw on the tacos and a side of rice. Kim said they weren't that spicy and that was the only thing she did wrong all night. They weren't overly spicy but I felt like it needed more of the mayo to off set the spice. The tortillas were flavorless and the slaw was nothing great. DH had the Korean beef and he really liked it. My son of course had a hamburger which is a thick patty with good flavor or has much flavor has he needs. DD ordered the kids burger which was tiny! It was the smallest kids burger we've every had anywhere! She was pretty disappointed. I'm glad we went and if we should go back in future I'd probably just share a Sweet & Sour chicken with my DD. I would still recommend Rainforest Cafe over Yak & Yeti if your traveling with picky eaters.

Pros:

Great waitress

Cons:

Ok food

Review of Plaza Restaurant

Our party of 3 ate here for lunch on 3/30. It was a very busy day at MK and our breakfast didn't last as long as I thought. My kids were hungry by noon and we happened to be right by the Plaza. I have long wanted to try this place and remembered that you didn't need ressies. So I walked up to the check in and she said we'd be seated in about 20 minutes. Soon after we arrived though they stopped taking walk ups.
My DD (12) & I each ordered the Fried Green Tomato sandwich with cheddar (instead of pepper jack). My DS 14 opted for the cheese fries "hold all the vegetables"! The sandwiches were delicious! My DD ate every bite! I had my sandwich with the potato chips which were fresh and crispy. The Cheese fries had plastic cheese which is wonderful! My kids are crazy and didn't want anymore ice cream? So I can't speak to the shakes but they looked great. I would highly recommend this restaurant for lunch. It's a great break from the park with good food. It is a much smaller place than I expected, so it may get full on a busy day

Pros:

Good food great prices

Review of Caribbean Beach Resort (Moderate Resort)

Recently stayed for six nights and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Our party included two teenage boys (our son and his friend), my husband and myself. This was our first time at CBR, and I'm sure we will stay here again in the future. Got our top requests--ground floor and close to transportation. We stayed in Barbados and it was lovely.

Our room was clean and mousekeeping freshened up our towels and toiletries daily. Our teenagers really enjoyed the pools and my husband and I spent more time relaxing at this resort than we have during any other visit to WDW. We enjoyed a few afternoons or early evenings taking a break from the parks and having a drink or two at Banana Cabana. The bartenders were friendly and we enjoyed talking with several of them over the course of our stay.

I'm glad the food court will be updated and I'll be pleased to see the results after the remodeling. We had no real complaints and enjoyed most of the food. The best items are the breakfast bounty platter, the muffaletta sandwich, the mahi sandwich, and the burger. The Grill section seemed to always be the most popular with a fairly long line depending on the time of day. We tried to eat at off times to avoid crowds. The lemon and lime infused water near the concierge desk before you enter the food court was a nice, refreshing touch. We did not dine at Shutters, but want to try it in the future after the remodeling is complete. One nice touch of personal service included being given an entire new mug at no charge when my son accidentally dumped his lid in the trash. We did not expect to be given an entirely new mug at all. We thought we'd get a complimentary replacement lid or something. That's the kind of great Disney service that I love. Pleasant surprise.

I see a number of complaints about waiting for buses, but we didn't mind so much. It is a larger resort so we accepted the fact that we may have to wait a bit occasionally. It's all part of the experience. I was expecting worse service than we actually experienced, but maybe I'm just not as picky about that as other reviewers are. I was actually surprised at how quiet this large resort was, which was really nice.

All in all, I would highly recommend staying at CBR. Beautiful scenery, relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff, fun for all ages. Thanks, WDW, for another wonderful memory-making family trip experience.

atmosphere, friendly staff, pool and Banana Cabana

Review of Biergarten - Lunch/Dinner

We dined here on April 4, 2017. This was my 3rd time eating at the Biergarten, my husband's 2nd, and our son and his friend's first experience. We had the QS dining plan, so we paid out-of-pocket for this meal, which was $46/person if I'm remembering correctly.

We had a great table close to the dance floor and had a wonderful waitress. The potato leek soup was a hit with our whole party as was the best macaroni and cheese I've ever tasted. I also enjoyed the salmon and the potato dumplings. The desserts, for those of us who saved room, were delicious. The schnitzel was a little overdone this time, but all in all it was a great meal.

variety, entertainment, service

We had the steak with the habenero sauce. We were concerned about the spicyness of the meal but our waitress said it really wasn't spicy. We both had this meal and it was great I wish I could have finished everything. Someway they take the heat out of the habanero pepper and just leave the flavor in.

Pros:

Absolutly fantastic and tasty

Review of Polite Pig

Went to the Polite Pig for Easter lunch. DW got the pulled pork sandwich with brussel sprouts. She liked the sandwich and we all loved the brussel sprouts. My 13yr. old DD liked them so much she wanted to go buy more of them. My DD got the 10 dollar pretzel which was good but I didn't find the cheese sauce to cheesy. I had the brisket. All BBQ restaurants I have been to are judge on their brisket. If this is the case for the Polite Pig it won't be around long. The brisket was fatty, chewy, and didn't have a lot of favor. It is a shame b/c I really wanted some really good brisket.

We will probably try it again if other places are busy, but its not a must do. If you do go get the brussels sprouts!

Pros:

Brussel Sprouts

Cons:

Not a lot of flavor

Review of Geyser Point Bar and Grill

With a party of 6, including 3 generations, we loved Geyser Point and went there every night while staying at Boulder Ridge Villas in March 2017. When construction is over, it will be easier to get to, but was definitely worth the walk.
The atmosphere was quite relaxed even though it was very busy. Helen, our favourite server, always had a minute to chat while serving the excellent food from either the main menu or the bar menu. This is not your average Theme Park or Food Court food, but the prices are similar.
Try the cheesy barbeque brisket from the bar menu. MMmmm. Other diners raved about the Bison Burger.
This is a place we will return to many times, I'm sure.

I really wanted to come here for the themeing. There are a lot of neat stories hidden on the walls if you take the time to look. My DH & I each has the Grilled Chicken BLT with fries. It had a good sauce on the sandwich and over all I thought the sandwich was very good. They do serve it with a side of black bean & corn relish but I don't understand why. It didn't add anything to the sandwich. My DS had the chili cheese dog which he did not like. I tried it and thought it was very good. It's a large all beef hot dog topped it a homemade tasting chili and shredded cheese. He doesn't like all beef hot dogs which is what ruined it for him. But if you like all beef hot dogs I would recommend this. The chili was delicious! DD has kids chicken nuggets which were large all white meat chicken with fries. These nuggets do have good flavor and the kids order was a little too much food for her.

We ordered the Southern Pig (pulled pork) Sandwich and the Brisket Melt Sandwich with the Sweet Potato Tots as our side. The pulled pork was very good, not exceptionally awesome, but I would order it again. It came with an apple slaw on the sandwich, which was good and the mustard sauce was on point. The Brisket Melt was also very good. Better IMO than the pulled pork. The sweet potato tots were good too. You stand in line to order your food, then you go to your table and the food is brought to you. The staff is well trained and friendly. There is a nice BBQ sauce bar at the ready for you to choose from. My only complaint about the restaurant, is that it is quite noisy. It wasn't even full when we were there and we could not hold a conversation because there is such an echo - the sound bounces off the walls and it is unpleasant. They do accept an AP discount which is good. I would eat there again, but maybe sit at one of the outside tables if the weather is nice.

Pros:

Very Good Food, Friendly Helpful Wait Staff

Cons:

Loud Atmosphere, "Echoy" (is that a word?), Hard to converse with others in your party

Review of Caring for Giants - Animal Kingdom

My three daughters and I booked this tour to just add something different to our trip. The big plus for me was that it was short, so it wouldn't take a lot of time away from their list of things they wanted to do, and the cost was very reasonable, so for our family of four, we were able to add it even after the budget was pretty well set.

A brief introduction is followed by a short bus ride to the viewing area. While no one is guaranteed the actual location of the elephants, they estimate you are about 100 feet from these beautiful creatures, and after many times riding the Kiliminjaro Safari ride, I will say they did feel much closer.

There is an elephant expert that provides information about the herd at Disney's Animal Kingdom, such as the names of the elephants, how much food they eat, how much, ummm, "waste" they create, and other details. There are then two brief presentations from cast members from Africa, basically giving information about how the animals and people live peacefully together.

They give you plenty of time for photos, and there is ample opportunity to ask questions. Before your short bus ride back, you are given one of the Disney conservation buttons, as part of your tour fee goes toward these efforts.

My girls are ages 12, 16, and 25, and all of them walked away feeling it was well worth the time to do this tour. They loved seeing the elephants interact with each other, and they enjoyed learning more about the animals and the facilities at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

Definitely recommend!

Informative and Inexpensive
