finally got reservations on 1-31-13 @ 7:55PM! Park closed at 8:00PM. The theme was spot on! My family of 4 felt like we were in the movie!! Service was good and we were never rushed. DO NOT ORDER RATATOUILLE!!! I made that mistake and by the time I got on the Disney bus to go back to our resort, I was sick. Husband had steak and loved it, while both daughters got chicken and said it was good. The beast made regular appearances and we could also do pictures throughout castle. Loved it, except for bad RATATOUILLE!

Pros:

setting was amazing

Cons:

food made me sick

Review of Biergarten - Lunch/Dinner

We ate lunch at Biergarten on January . We did not have advance dining reservations because in the past we have had no difficulty getting a seat. We are a party of 3 and for the 1st time we actually had to wait quite some time to be seated. When seated we were placed at a table with 2 other small parties. Maybe we waited because they were trying to fill the table or maybe because we came earlier than we usually do. Once we were seated it took about 5 minutes for our server to come and tale our drink orders. He was very pleasant and upon seeing my birthday button, wished me a happy birthday in German. It was obvious that he had several tables and I know he did the best he could, but we waited quite some time for our drinks to arrive and also for refills. My largest complaint was the serving tables. Despite the restaurant being fairly filled, only one serving line was open resulting in very long lines to get food. My son did not get all the items he wanted because he got tired of waiting in line. Also, because everyone was in the same line, they ran out several food items quickly and did not replenish them right away. Before our lunch was over they did open a second line, but by then we were pretty much done with our meals. OK, that's the negatives, now for the positives. The food as always was excellent. The salads were cold and fresh, and the vegetables were crisp. The German specialty foods were delicious and authentic. The new beer cheese soup was in my opinion as good as that served in Le Cellier. The table was clean as were the rest rooms. Overall, while not the best experience we have had here, we were very pleased. We will return and hope that the service problems were just an isolated incident.

Pros:

Quality of Food, new beer cheese soup!

Cons:

Service not as good as in the past

Review of Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe

We ate at Pecos Bills on January 11th, 2013. We had not been here in maybe 10 years. I had read that their menu had changed and so I wanted to try it again. It took some convincing to get my husband to come as he said he was tired of the burgers and fries as we eat them a lot at home. Boy was he glad that I did convince him to go! We both ordered the chicken wraps and my son ordered yet another bacon cheeseburger (what can i say, he's a teenager!). As usual, I went to find a table. My biggest complaint about Pecos Bills is the seating areas. They have two main sections and outdoor seating available, but the tables are very close together making navigating them a challenge. I can't tell you how many times I said "Excuse me" to people just trying to get through. Plus not all the seating areas are in direct line of sight with the ordering areas. My husband and son lost sight of me and so had to search before they found me. At least unlike Cosmic Rays they will let you sit down before you have your food. Once the food came I was not disappointed The wraps were HUGE and came with a generous portion of fries. The best part of this quick service has to be the toppings bar. It has a full compliment of tomatoes, lettuce, mushrooms, sauteed onions, cheese sauce, salsa, pickles, banana peppers and jalapenos as well as the usual ketchup, mustard and mayo. The cheese sauce was hot and dispensed out of a spigot. There were small paper cups nearby to dispense your condiments into. I was able to customize my chicken wrap with what I wanted and placed some mushrooms and tomatoes on the side to eat. My husband had the right idea. My husband and I both ate our chicken wraps and then went back to the toppings bar with our french fries to make loaded fries. Yummy with cheese sauce, salsa, peppers and even mushrooms and sauteed onions. We will definitely come back here although we will try to go during the off lunch hours and hope to avoid some of the crowds.

Pros:

fixings bar!

Cons:

crowded and congested seating areas

We stopped here for ice cream sundaes on January 10th, 2013. We have made a tradition of stopping here at least once every trip with good reason. the ice cream sundaes are HUGE and delicious! My husband ordered the berry sundae, I ordered a butter pecan hot fudge sundae and my son ordered the peanut butter sundae. We were given a number flag and told to find a table of our choice. It was a nice day so we ate outside overlooking the waterfront. It was very pretty and we could people watch while we waited and ate. All sundaes were delivered to our table promptly and we enjoyed them very much. Next time I am there I want to try the ice cream floats. They looked yummy! Oh by the way, right next to the sundae shop is a chocolate shop where you can buy candy and other merchandise. They give out free samples of chocolate! How many places at Disney can you say that about.

Pros:

Yummy sundaes!

We ate here on January 7, 2013. We have eaten here before and been less than pleased, but we decided to try it again because we were hungry, tired and very thirsty and wanted to take advantage of the the refills available on soda. We were very pleased that when we arrived, there was a cast member greeting people, handing out menus and sending people to the ordering stations. That seems to be a new policy at all quick service restaurants and it certainly makes it run more efficiently. We had sufficient time to look over the menu before ordering. A separate cast member was available closer to the ordering station who asked me if I had any questions about the food items. He was extremely helpful in answering my questions about the new items and the side dishes that came with them. We ordered 2 bacon mushroom burgers with fries and one bacon cheeseburger with fries. Even though this time we did not order them, it's nice to see healthier sides available. I did notice that the drink cups are smaller than the "large" size you would get in a non-refillable quick service. I suppose this because they know you can get as many refills as you want. Also nice is that you can choose to get a drink with no ice. My son doesn't like ice in his drinks so he really enjoyed this feature. My husband and son waited for our food while I went searching for a table. It was very cold outside so we wanted to sit indoors. No such luck. The second floor was not open and there was not nearly enough seating on the 1st floor to accommodate the lunch crowds so we ended up eating at an outdoor table. Let me tell you, if you eat outdoors watch out for the birds! They are everywhere and very aggressive. I was speaking to my husband and made the mistake of lifting a french fry up as I was making a point. This very large crow came swooping down out of the sky and grabbed the fry right out of my hand! I could feel his wings brush my face as he flew at me. I handled it well and laughed, but I can imagine a small child being terrified. The food itself was hot when it arrived, had adequate portions and was very tasty. I saw several people with the new flat bread pizzas. While they looked good, they do not come with a side item and I don't think they would be worth the money. I wouldn't make a special effort to eat here, but if you need a quick bite to eat it is a good choice.

Pros:

new menu choices, free refills!

Cons:

crowded and had to sit outside

Review of Columbia Harbour House

We ate at Columbia Harbour House on January 5th, 2013. We have not eaten here in several years, but we were meeting friends at Magic Kingdom that day and so decided to all have lunch here. We arrived at around 12:30 and were handed a menu and directed by a cast member toward an ordering station. I was anxious to try their new shrimp dishes and my husband wanted to try the salmon. My son does not like fish so he ordered the chicken. I went upstairs and found our friends. Although it was crowded and we were a party of almost 12 (with the 3 families combined), we were able to find 2 tables together. My husband and son brought the food up and it was still hot. My shrimp was fried perfectly, crispy and not overdone. It came with a small order of slaw and french fries. I am a pretty big eater and still I had enough shrimp to share with my husband. The condiments bar includes dipping sauces, mayo and ketchup as well as tarter sauce and cocktail sauce so I had my pick of what I wanted for both the shrimp and fries. My husband's salmon was very good he said. It was hot, cooked well and not overly seasoned. He was very pleased that they offered it with healthy sides. My son's chicken was what you would expect from a typical fast food place, but he enjoyed it. Others in our party ordered the tuna sandwich (which I have enjoyed in the past), the fish dinner and the chili. They all enjoyed it. The 3 small children in our group either had the children's chicken nuggets or ate off their parents plates. no complaint from anyone on the food. We will return here again, if for no other reason that to enjoy the salmon and fried shrimp! It's a great alternative to the typical quick service fare.

Pros:

food taste and quality

Review of Old Port Royale

We ate at Old port Royale twice during our most recent trip (January 4 - 12, 2013). We also went back every day for "free drinks" using our refill mugs. Our 1st dinner was on January 4th when we ordered a cheese and a peperoni pizza for dinner (and left overs for breakfast for the next several days!). This is by far the bets value at Old Port Royale. The pizza quality is comparable to a Little Caesars or Papa Johns in quality and is served made to order if you want (although only the cheese and peperoni are on the menu board. A pizza is large enough to feed 3 - 4 people. No complaints at all about the quality or taste. We went back on January 10th and my husband ordered the Cuban sandwich and my son the typical Bacon Cheeseburger (his 4th of the week. I was not hungry so I just had my drink. The Cuban sandwich was large and came with a choice of Cuban Seasoned chips (He thinks they were some kind of french fries) or other side. He chose the pasta salad which came in a very small portion cup. He said the food was good, but not the best he's had. He would chose it again though. My son as usual enjoyed his burger and fries. Both days that we ate a meal here, seating was available both inside at at a few tables outside. The lines were not too bad to order, but I don't like that you have to stand in a separate line to pay for your food so that by the time you get to your table it is cold (expect for the pizza. I think it would be a better idea if they had ordering stations like they do in the parks where you choose and pay and then pick your food up at the stations. Another thing is is the hours of service are limited. While we were there, they did not open for breakfast until 6:30 AM and closed at 10:00 PM. Not good if you stay late in the parks and want a bite to eat when you get back, or if you are early starter who likes to be at the parks well before opening. Also, they start shutting down the soda fountains well before the food court closes. When we got back from the parks on several nights before 9:00 they had already cleaned 3 of the 4 soda dispensing stations and wrapped them up. This resulted in lines to get sodas and several times the diet soda ran out. Lastly, the cleanliness of the tables was good, but the staff did not keep up with cleaning the condiment stations very well. I do like that they offer packages of tea and chocolate. I filled my mug each night with hot water and then added a tea bag when I got to my room. For convenience, Old Port Royale is a good choice, but I certainly would not make a special effort to eat here if staying at another resort or choosing between it and dining quick service in the parks. We will most likely eat here whenever we stay on property.

Pros:

Variety of menu items

Cons:

service hours, cold food, not as clean as it could be

Review of 'Ohana Dinner

We ate here on January 5th, 2013. We ate here on our last trip (May 2012)and I chose it to celebrate my birthday specifically because of the great experience we had the last time. Unfortunately, our experience this time was not quite as good. When we checked in 20 minutes early, we had to wait 10 minutes till past our reserved seating time for a table. OK, that doesn't bother me too much because I would not want to be rushed if it was me sitting there eating. When we were seated, our hostess brought a loaf of bread. That was the end of the great service. Our server took a good 10 minutes to take our drink orders and then another 5 to get them to us. Our salad came shortly after the drinks but then we did not see a server for a good half hour. When she did come back they had already cleared the salad and so she said of I'll bring you your salad. I then told her that we had already had our salad and was waiting for our pot stickers and wings. She obviously was not listening because she brought back another salad bowl. At that point I was getting a little angry and so flagged down another server who sent her back with the pot stickers and wings, exactly 2 of each for the table of three people. My son asked them to bring another platter of pot stickers which they eventually did, but only after I again flagged someone down. It was obvious to me that our server was looking for a larger tip because we saw she was very attentive to the tables near us that were drinking cocktails and wine (we do not drink and so stuck to the soda that came with the meal.) The meat service was better, probably because separate servers brought it. The steak was cooked perfectly and except for the end pieces was tender. Last time we ate here, the chicken was overdone, but this time it was juicy and delicious. The pork was not to my liking (I don't like the seasoning they use), but my husband loved it. I loved the shrimp. When I said so to the server who brought it he said Happy Birthday! (I was wearing my pin) and then emptied his entire skewer onto my plate. Needless to say I feasted on that shrimp as you can;t take it home with you. Overall, I have no complaints with the food and we will be returning here for my son's birthday in May 2013 at his request. I hope the service problems we had were an isolated incident as the last time we were here we had some of the best service I've ever seen at Disney world (Thanks to Larry!)

Pros:

atmosphere, view of Wishes, variety of food offered

Cons:

service was not up to Disney standards

Review of All Star Sports Resort (Value Resort)

Just back from our visit to the World Jan. 25-30 2013. We were originally booked for All Star Music, but there was a mix up with our two rooms so we were offered rooms at the Sport Resort, after reading poor reviews on the Sport Resort I didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of our rooms and how nice the resort was everything was so clean. I noticed one of the complaints was the size of the rooms at the All Star Resorts, so I reserved two rooms one for my teenage daughters and another for my son and me. The price of the rooms is affordable enough that instead of complaining about how small the rooms are why not get two rooms. People complained in the reviews about the noise in the rooms facing the pools well our rooms were facing the pool and we hardly heard any noise from the pool. I enjoyed the convience of being able to watch my tween son from the balcony walk to the food court for drinks and breakfast. We ate most of our meals at the resort the food was cooked to order and always hot and fresh, I was surprised at the selection of food at the food court, I assumed because we were staying at the Sport Resort they would only offer hamburgers and chicken nuggets, but was surprised by their menu which varied from london broil steak to turkey to salads made to order. My only complaint was how far we got dropped off from the parks via disney buses. Who wants to walk a mile or two before entering or leaving the parks. Overall I was very pleased with my experience and look forward to staying at All Star Sport again.

Pros:

Clean rooms, friendly staff

Cons:

Far walk from bus stop to park

We lucked out and had a room in the Oak Manor building overlooking the lesiure pool. DD loved looking at all the details of the room. The walk to the main building, bus stop, and food court was quick and easy. Would stay here again.
