This isn't my favorite resort. I've wanted to stay here for a while thinking it would be fun to be on the monorail line. That fun was gone our first morning to use the monorail as it was very crowded. The lobby in the Comtemporary was very noisy & crowded at almost all times of the day. I've never seen so many strollers in all my life!
The bed in master bed was sagging on one side & there was literally writing on the bathroom wall.
As for the positive, we had a party of 5 including a 15 yo girl, so 2 bathrooms were great! The California Grill was fantastic! It was great to see the fireworks from the resort. The staff was always friendly & helpful. A 5 minute walk to MK can't be beat. However, for the cost I'd rather stay at an EPCOT resort.

Pros:

Close to MK

Cons:

Crowded monorail

Review of The Fountain

I had the BLT which had way too much iceburg lettuce on it. You really want the L to be pretty minimal and the B plentiful but this was not the case. I had the banana walnut ice cream in a sundae and it was very good. They do not have a huge food selection.

Be sure to use your Triple A discount here and your green vouchers if you have them.

Pros:

open long hours, lots of icecream selections

Cons:

food just okay

Review of Fresh Mediterranean Market Lunch

Your only choice for lunch on the day we were there was salads. You could chose 3 ready made salads or choose your own. They only offered chicken fingers for kids and I saw a family leave before eating because of the limited options. My husband had the steak salad and said it was just okay because the steak had grisle on it. My make your own salad included rotiss. chicken and it to was not carved well-- too much fat. The desserts were small bite size pastries. They were okay but did not appeal to my husband. Be sure to use your Triple A discount and any going green vouchers you have.

Pros:

includes dessert

Cons:

disappointing food

Review of Fresh Mediterranean Market Breakfast

This breakfast buffet offered a great selection of items that should please most. I was not terribly hungry so I was able to order a la carte while my husband got the buffet. This is a costly buffet at $23 per person but they do offer a 20% triple A discount plus you can use your $5 Going Green vouchers the Dolphin gives you if you pass on maid service. We were able to take $10 off with the vouchers and about $8 off with the triple A so this really helped. Our waitress was very friendly. An enjoyable experience.

Pros:

good food selection

Cons:

cost if you don't plan ahead

Review of Shula's Steakhouse Dinner

I recommend signing up for the Shula birthday club on their website for a free entrée or looking for a 20% off Orlando coupon, this will help make the meal cost more appetizing! We had the filet mignon and the crab cakes. The filet was really wonderful, the crab cakes not so much. They were only slightly warm and they had a lot of fillers-- there were 2 however and they were a good size. Our side was the mashed potatoes which were delicious and my husband had a caesar salad which he said was good. There is a good dessert selection but because we were stuffed we just took a piece of their chocolate layer cake to go which was good. This was a nice choice for my husband's birthday as he grew up in Florida and new all about the Dolphin's undefeated season. It might not be as interesting to a non-football person. Several waiters serve you and it can be a bit over the top. All in all though a nice experience.

Pros:

football memorbilia, great steak

Cons:

waiter overkill

Review of Liberty Tree Tavern Dinner

The Liberty Tavern is similar to dining in Williamsburg. The menu seemed a little limited and we did have to wait quite awhile for our food. They do not serve bread which would have been nice to have since we were eating a late lunch. I had the colony salad which was pretty good and my husband had a hamburger. We split a sticky toffee for dessert and that was quite memorable.

Pros:

atmosphere, friendly waitress

Cons:

long wait for food

Review of Brown Derby Lunch/Dinner

If you eat at the Derby make sure it is your only big meal because you will leave feeling quite full. We did the Fantasmic package but I don't believe I would do it again. It is a fixed price and includes an appetizer, entrée, dessert and non-alcoholic beverage plus rolls. It's just a lot of food and we could have reduced our bill and stomach by just ordering entrees and then splitting a dessert. The fantasmic seating it entitled us to was nothing special. We visited in September when crowds were low so maybe during peak times it makes more sense. The atmosphere in the restaurant is up scale with caricatures of celebrities on the walls. It's a nice break from the noise and crowds with the advantage of great food.

Pros:

Very good food, nice atmosphere

Cons:

expensive

Review of 50's Prime Time Cafe Lunch/Dinner

This is a fun restaurant with décor from the 50's and TV snippets from days gone by. Some of the waiters are a little more into it than others but all in all a good time. Go for the specials- Pot Roast, Pot Pie. I made the mistake of ordering a salad from the appetizer menu which was not terribly impressive but my husband loved the pot roast. It was his birthday and they brought him a cupcake with a candle and sang to him. He said the cupcake was good. You can also get flavored sodas here like vanilla and cherry.

Pros:

fun theme, specials are good, nice birthday bonus

Cons:

avoid typical items

Review of Teppan Edo - Japan

This was a fun dinner choice. The staff/chef are very friendly and courteous. You sit at a table that seats up to 8 and the chef cooks in front of you. The food was very good and I thought it was less salty than other Japanese steak houses I've been to. I had the filet mignon and my husband had chicken. They also serve vegetables, noodles and brown rice. A very good meal. Nothing amazing on the dessert menu so it was a good excuse to skip out on dessert and save room for something scrumptious at the Karamel Kuche in Germany!

Pros:

entertaining, good food, good staff

Cons:

no outside seating
