Review of Wilderness Lodge (Deluxe Resort)

Without a doubt, this is my most favorite of all the Disney resorts I've stayed in during my 16 visits over the last 19 years. I love that it's near Magic Kingdom but still has a secluded feel about it. I love the architecture and the Adirondack-style furnishings. The restaurants and food court are among the best and we often go to this resort to eat even if we're staying somewhere else. I love taking the boat to/from Magic Kingdom, especially at night. If you're looking for a romantic place to stay at Disney, this one ranks the highest in my opinion. There are lots of activities for kids and families here. I hope to one day be able to afford to stay here for at least 2 weeks so that I can experience everything this resort has to offer.

Pros:

Secluded yet conveniently located to all parks except Animal Kingdom. Fabulous dining experiences. Beautiful architecture. Romantic.

Cons:

Cost. Also, busses that service Wilderness Lodge also service other Deluxe resorts so allow plenty of time for the extra stops when traveling to/from theme parks.

We ate lunch here a few years back - granddaughter was 10 and she really enjoyed the atmosphere and meeting the princesses. She is a picky eater so very few things met with her tastes. Her mom and I enjoyed all the food and the surroundings.

Pros:

Good food and lots of royalty

Cons:

In the country area of Epcot so not as easy to access

My husband and I went for our 5th Anniversary and the food was some of the best I have had at Disney including Victoria & Alberts! Plus our waiter went above and beyond for us! He gave us complimentary champagne and even had the chef make us a beautiful desert complete with handmade chocolate roses!

Pros:

Among the best food at Disney. Comparable to California Grill but less expensive and better chance of getting reservations!

Cons:

Pricey if not on dining plan.

We absolutely LOVE this resort. If we weren't DVC members, we would pay to stay here using a service like David's to rent points. BUT, we are members and this is our home resort. I cannot say enough good stuff about staying here - friendliness and efficiency of cast members, spacious design of villas, comfy beds, convenience of being on the monorail, the views, the pools, having our own laundry and full kitchen, and everything is kept so clean. Absolutely, hands down, the best on property and one of the few to have an extra bathroom... the 1 BR has two baths, the 2 BR has three, and so on. LOVE THIS PLACE - we just stayed there a week ago and have plans to go back in early February. Can't get enough!

Pros:

Convenient location and all the amenities one would expect from WDW

Cons:

none

Be Our Guest is so fun! The theming is *amazing* and I love that it's only a quick service meal in the mornings and afternoons. The food is tasty and it's fun when they bring it right up to your table without having taken your order. Also, the pre-ordering online is absolutely wonderful, and saves you tons of time.

Pros:

Theme, decorations, food

Cons:

If you don't order in advance, the wait to order can be long

I love the FastPass+ system! It's easy, convenient and literally right there at your fingertips when you use the app. I also love that once you've used up your 3 advance FastPass+, you can make more!

Pros:

Getting onto high wait rides quickly and easily

Cons:

Making your ride decisions 1-3 months in advance

Review of Art of Animation Resort (Value Resort)

I've stayed at this resort twice -- I did not enjoy either stay. The first visit was shortly after the resort opened and we stayed in a standard room (there is no preferred room option) in the Little Mermaid area of the resort. The walk to/from these buildings was excruciatingly long -- seemed like about 15 minutes which may not be that long to some but......if you forget something and have to return to your room it makes for a very bad experience. Also, the resort refillable mugs are basically useless because there is no quick trip to the foodcourt for a refill -- it's a 15 minute walk minimum. The same is true for a trip to the gift shop. Therefore, when I went back for my second trip, I paid the higher price and stayed in a suite -- again, not a good experience. The design of these rooms can only be described as cluttered. The sofa was not a full-size sofa so it accommodates seating for only 2 guests. The "side chair" is more like a chair you would find at the dining table and is not conducive for watching TV or resting. The table and chairs take up most of the entry way and cannot be used if the Murphy bed is down. The "kitchenette" is tiny and right in the middle of the living area. Guests who will be sleeping on the pullouts have no place to store their luggage other than right in the middle of the living area. The side tables in the living area were tiny and useless. To put it mildly, we hated this resort and hope never to stay there again.

Pros:

Sadly, I can't find much that is positive to say about Art of Animation. The airline check-in personnel were friendly and efficient.

Cons:

Everything -- crowded rooms; long walks to/from the foodcourt, buses, gift shops. Poor selections/not much variety in the foodcourt.

Review of Pandora -- the World of Avatar

Referencing Flight of Passage, it's incredible! I felt like I was there, with the visuals and physical feeling of flying on my banshee. The colors, sounds, and feelings of flight took me to a new place. It was, for lack of a better term, mind blowing. Whomever imagine-eared this ride is a genius.

Pros:

We had fast passes and that made a huge difference, only about a 10 minute wait. Got in through early extra magic hours two days later and the line was already 60 minutes long. We waited anyway and it was well worth it to go a second time.

Cons:

The Na'vi River Journey isn't good, in fact it's quite a disappointment. If you are choosing between fast passes for Flight of Passage or the River Journey, don't think twice. Fly!

I really enjoy the experience of being in the Beast's castle. The food is great, especially the Master's Cupcake with the "gray stuff". It's what makes me need to eat here in every visit...if I can manage to get a reservation.

Pros:

Great food and atmosphere

Cons:

The line can be long and some trouble finding a table for a large group.
