Review of Caribbean Beach Resort (Moderate Resort)

We just completed our 3rd stay at this resort, first time as just 2 adults, and we were able to book a king room. The bus service from Martinique was excellent, we did feel sorry for folks at some other stops. They could be very crowded and/or skipped altogether as the bus would be full. Construction is taking place on the new hotel, and the skyliner but it does not impact guests at CB. The new bar area is quite nice, but the food court didn't seem to improve with the new layout. It has very limited choices, but easy enough to wait until you get to the parks. Overall, it's still a very nice place to stay, housekeeping tries to amuse guests with towel animals etc, and all cast members greet you and offer assistance.

Pros:

Very short bus ride to Epcot and HS. It is a moderate making the price more reasonable to vacation here.

Cons:

Sheer size of this resort, and I would suspect that the Skyliner could make this an even busier resort

Review of Walt Disney World Minnie Van Service

Used the Minnie vans princess race weekend to get from Hollywood Studios to EWWS to pick up race packets. Would have taken us hours by bus but only 25 min by Minnie van- even in traffic! We needed car seats for both Minnie Vans and Frank the tank ( our driver) was awesome getting them installed and getting us on our way! Would totally reccommend them if you have a destination that would take multiple bus transfers to get where you need to be! Super friendly drivers—Will use them again!

Pros:

Having car seats and knowledgible drivers installing them Shortened our travel time considerably

Cons:

A little pricey but well worth it in this instance

Review of St. Thomas and St. John

We had a stop in St. Thomas on our cruise in July 2018 which we booked last minute so a lot of the excursions were already booked. DCL did offer an excursion to do the Skyride to Paradise Point but we were afraid to book in case the weather was bad. My husband looked it up and this was within walking distance from the ship and it was the exact same price if we booked with Disney. We decided to wait and buy tickets once we docked and directly with them so we could be on our own time frame. The walk took maybe 10 minutes and was very easy to get to (you can see it from the ship) and when we went it wasn't crowded so it might have been crowded had we done it with an excursion group. The view up on the point was outstanding and we could see the Fantasy from up above. There was also a restaurant and a few shops at the top where my husband and son bought a t-shirt but we didn't eat anything. You can take your time and determine when you want to come back down. There was a pirate store next door where we ran into "Jack Sparrow" and it also had a pirate museum but we didn't go into that since they charged admission. There were also stores right around the ship with your basic t-shirts, souvenir, and jewelry store. We enjoyed the port even though we didn't venture that far from the ship.

Pros:

By going direct to Skyride to Paradise Point we did it on our time and didn't have to worry about what to do if there was bad weather

Cons:

hot but it was July so to be expected

Review of Keys to the Kingdom - Magic Kingdom

Interesting, lot of walking, worth it. We scheduled our tour a month or so before our planned vacation. We arrived early and were told to wait in a specific area by 3 different cast members. Unfortunately it was incorrect and we were supposed to go inside and check in. Again, unfortunately, our reservation was not on the list for that day, but a different day. To say the least we were very unhappy. The cast tried everything and after a bit they got us on that tour.

That being said, the tour guide (this was in January) was very nice, loved Disney of course.

At check in, we chose our lunch menu item and received a name tag and were given a bottle of water (good idea). The guide provided us with ear sets etc. for the tour. He gave a lot of information (some actually found here on Allears.net). We did a lot of walking and even though it was January, we needed a hat or something. We went behind the scenes and got on two rides from behind the scenes which was great.

The lunch at Pecos Bills was really good, we had never eaten there, but based on this I would go back. We had a private room for lunch, and there was basically a 'salad bar' you could back to as often as you wanted but the salad bar included toppings for tacos etc. Lunch was almost halfway through the tour.

There are many 'secrets' you learn on the tour, and yes we went down to the utilidor which also was very interesting, (can't give away secrets). You are actually asked not to repeat what you learn as to not spoil the magic for other guests. We also learned differences between Walt Disney World and Disneyland.

Pros:

It was a good tour, good information, many surprises certainly worth the price (we had APs so we got a discount).

Cons:

For me it was a one time deal. A lot of walking outside.

High quality food in pleasant surroundings. The breakfast buffet is outstanding. For the price is an obvious choice over ordering from menu. Waitress said if we wanted an omelet to let her know and it would be brought to the table. Everything was excellent in pleasant surroundings with friendly service.

Pros:

Quality and service.

Cons:

none

Review of Garden View Lounge Tea

Do not waste your money! It is usually not very busy, clearly because the quality is not good. The atmosphere has potential, other than the fact that the tables are virtually bare. Part of the atmosphere is the table being set. The service was subpar. The waitress/waiters seemed miserable and bothered by doing their job. Now on to the food. The scone was not warm and tasted stale. The sandwiches were ok. The cheese selection and fruit was a bit sparse. The mini pastries was a chocolate covered strawberry (1) and 2 macroons and THAT WAS IT! The tea even tasted like hot water with a faint taste of tea. The waitress even put more tea in it and barely tasted any better. For $50 it is NOT WORTH IT! Frankly I would not pay more than $20 for the quality, service and quantity and atmosphere you receive. Bottom line don't bother going.

Pros:

Convient location being at a hotel within Disney. (Grand Floridian).

Cons:

Cost, quality, quantity,service and atmosphere

Review of FastPass+ (Retired)

When Disney first introduced the fast pass it worked well. However once you start mucking with it - the headaches start. We were in the standby line for splash mountain and we all stood still while the cast members put through more fast pass people then standby instead of balancing it. It was very frustrating and in fact someone in line video taped the entire thing and told the cast member he was going to send it to guest services. Yes, over our 10 days at disney we did use fast passes but we had to figure out 2 months in advance what and when we wanted them. Even then the selections were slim and we were up early to go online to get them. Plus you can only choose 3 and they can't all be in the same category. Well, when there is a 16 year old roller coaster nut in your group it makes it difficult to get a fast pass for both pandora and everest. This program needs a re-vamp and a lot of thinking into how to handle both the fast pass and standyby lines to keep ALL guests happy. I would recommend it if you had more flexibility.

Pros:

Makes it easier when you have small children

Cons:

Have to choose in advance Can't choose 3 from same category
