Review of California Grill - Brunch at the Top

First I want to say that my first visit to this restaurant was back when it was called top of the World in 1976, I’m not a newcomer here. This is also the third year I have had brunch here on my birthday the food and the view are still spectacular. Most everyone has seen pictures of the buffet and food this year with three types of pancakes and a couple of other new additions the chef has been a great job of maintaining this brunch. My problem lies with staff members actually one staff member our waiter. We were blessed last year with a young lady, I believe her name was Celia. This year the gentleman whose name I do forget it was more like a weed or you would find the Applebee’s. Upon ordering we asked for coffee and that did the shop for a good 20 minutes after we’ve already been to the buffet and ready to go back. As my eggs were delivered I asked for some Tabasco and was told no problem. Again 15 minutes goes by I am 3/4 done my eggs and he comes back and says oh I forgot your Tabasco I’ll be right back. This time five minutes goes by he comes back with a little dish of Sriracha and says they have no Tabasco he sorry. After finishing my eggs and starting on dessert I glanced over at the bloody Mary bar and what do I see three bottles of Tabasco, the big ones! 03 brunch we don’t see much of him and we do see him his spiel is ‘canned’ the same exact talk that you hear from the other tables. These complaints may seem minor at first but we’re not eating at Applebee’s today were eating at California grill.
What is suggestion is when you have a top line restaurant that charges this much for brunch you put your top staff at this restaurant not a waiter like we had this time.
Next year will be my 65th birthday I am the 44th year I have been to Disney World well I come back to California grill? Yes of course, but I will be looking for Celia!!

Pros:

Incredible food, incredible view

Cons:

Incredible cost.....BUT for special occasions it’s well worth it

This was my second time staying at POP. I love this resort. We stayed there the first week of June. First time for my sister and her kids. Love the refurbished rooms just wish the hand held shower had a way to adjust the water pressure for a more vigorous shower. Requested a top floor room in the 70's section and received exactly what was requested. Love walking around the resort and walking to AoA. Can't wait for the Skyliner to open. Mousekeeping was great also.

Pros:

Refurbished rooms, love the flooring.

Cons:

Elevators were very warm. My sister doesn't like elevators to begin with as a result of being stuck in one as a five-year-old. Heat did not help the situation.

Classic Disney counter service, gorgeous environment, the desserts are phenomenal. They have a handful of selections all the time and a handful of seasonal or special event selections. The coffee is fantastic!

Pros:

Fabulous dessert selection, great coffee, great seating

Cons:

Can be pretty busy.

This used to be my favorite restaurant. I didn’t mind to pay $60/entree because the food was amazing. Recently, the food was bland, service was poor, and definitely not worth the money.

Pros:

None

Cons:

Pricey Bland food Mediocre service

I ordered the ginger chicken salad. What I got was a 3 compartment plastic clamshell - lettuce mix, chopped chicken & crunchy noodles. A container of dressing was included. I combined the three ingredients with the dressing. The result was something not worthy of a convenience store premade salad. Really pathetic. I also got the mini-mango pie another item you can pick up in a convenience store. With my iced tea, the total was $22.64! Ridiculous. Never again!

Pros:

Quick

Cons:

Everything else.

In my opinion, this is the best moderate resort to stay at. It is small, has only one bus stop, is close to Disney Springs and has beautiful grounds.

Pros:

Small resort, one bus stop, can take the boat to Disney Springs, gorgeous property.

Cons:

None

By the time you reach this attraction, you will be ready for a sit down (it’s on the back side of the park). The question line is somewhat interactive. There is a pre-show that is standing room only. Lots to look at at though. The show it’s self is in “Muppet 3-D”, large nice air-conditioned theatre. Fun little break from the heat. I’m biased as the Muppets are my favorite. A must see even if your not a big fun.

Pros:

It’s the Muppets, and it’s out of the heat?

Cons:

There is no “cons” when Muppets are involved.

Review of Boardwalk Inn (Deluxe Resort)

I love this resort and it is one of my favorites. I always stay in the Epcot Resort area and our last trip was wonderful. We had a corner room which partially overlooked the Boardwalk and the main grassy area in front of the lobby. Altho it was on one of the higher floors we were close to the elevator which was very convenient. My only "complaint" if you can call it that is that this resort does not have any indoor restaurants and we had to walk to the Boardwalk Bakery to refill our resort mugs. The gift shop is also really sparse. Mousekeeping skipped us one day. Overall we were very happy here.

Pros:

location. nice rooms

Cons:

lack of indoor dining

I stayed here for 4 nights. I had stayed in the past before the room renos. I have to say the rooms are 100% better. The inclusion of the kitchen area was welcome, as was the dressing area upgrade. Having the table when the second bed was up was great as a single traveler not having the extra bed was great. I did pull down the bed to see it and I think it really crowds the room but you would only need it when it was in use.
The staff here are wonderful and very helpful.
The food court was boring and bland. No real favour there. so find somewhere else to dine.

Pros:

reno rooms, function and clean, amazing staff

Cons:

food court, bland and boring
