This is so good restaurant! Perfect comfort food yay!
It's never hard to get a reservation so that makes it a perfect hidden gem, yet somehow there's always a kid awfully coughing repeatedly so beware.
The food's really good, with fun ice cubes and comforting scenery. We like staying at French Quarter instead of Riverside, but it's just a small car drive (or a long painful walk to give you blisters, iykyk) away!
Overall would recommend trying at least once, besties!
Pros:
Great food, nice scenery, easy to get reservationsCons:
People always bring their sick kids there, and requires a car drive if you don't want blistersReviewed by Darikraphael Review Date: 02/16/2025

Our family stayed at POR last August. On the first night of each Disney vacation, it is a tradition of ours to eat a table service meal at the resort where we are staying. This the fourth time we have stayed at POR. We loved Boatwright's the first time we stayed here (2005). The food and service perfectly fit the Port Orleans theming. Unfortunately, at each successive visit, the quality has gradually declined. Our most recent trip continued that trend. Our server was a new cast member, which we understood and didn't mind. She was pleasant and was really trying to do well. However, the CM assigned as her trainer was overbearing and criticized our server in front of us. This caused our server to become flustered, and she started to make some mistakes she probably wouldn't have otherwise made.
The food this time was hit or miss. The only appetizer we ordered was the French Onion Soup. It was decent, yet unremarkable. We ordered four entrees. The star was the Shrimp and Grits. We have ordered this each time we've dined here, and it has never disappointed. The Jambalaya has also been reliably good. The Taste of the Bayou was overcooked and yet not very warm. The vegetables were almost inedible, and the meat and chicken were dry and not very flavorful. If you like Hot Nashville Chicken, you may not want to order it at Boatwright's. It did not resemble the hot chicken we have had in its namesake city. The biggest letdown was the quality of the desserts. The Bread Pudding was dense and not very tasty. The Banana Cream Pie Cheesecake was awful. It was overly sweet, and the banana flavoring tasted artificial. The Cafe au Lait Pot de Creme did redeem the dessert lineup a bit, but not enough to get the taste of that terrible banana flavoring out or our mouths.
The cocktails we had were all very good. The Sazerac and the Boulevardier were the standouts.
We are disappointed that the restaurant no longer serves breakfast. It was one of our favorite places for an early meal.
We gave Boatwright's a six rating, but that was based partially on nostalgia. This particular visit was more like a four or five. We would have preferred to give it a "maybe" recommendation, but that was not a choice. We gave it a yes, but be sure to stick with the Jambalaya, Shrimp and Grits, Red Beans and Rice, and maybe the Roasted Prime Rib. Do yourself a favor and avoid the cheesecake.
Pros:
1) It is convenient if you are staying at POR 2) Some of the items on the menu have been consistently good over the yearsCons:
1) In our opinion, the quality of the service and food has gradually declined over time. 2) Find somewhere else to go for dessert. Enjoy an after drink at the River Roost while enjoying Yehaa Bob Jackson and his piano antics. 3) Boatwright's no longer serves breakfast (we miss it!)Reviewed by Anonymous Review Date: 05/02/2024

Worst food ever! Completely inedible. Worst yet when complained to the manager all she did was apologize didn't even take it off the bill... To many good restaurants here to spend 100+ dollars on a horrible meal with no flavor for 2 adults and 1 kid.
Pros:
Denise our server was great!Cons:

Wife and I had dinner here 4/23/2023, by far the worst dinner we have ever been served at a Disney resort, chicken was strips and frozen half way thru, brisket was dry and tasteless, we both had the same meal, Taste of the Bayou, and we both agreed to leave after several bites, it wasn’t worth sending back to try again, we ate here several times back when Riverside was Dixie Landing, glad we skipped it all these years, wished we would have skipped it this year, highlite was the boat ride over, next time we take the boat ride over will be for drinks in the River Roost lounge only.
Pros:
Boat ride to resortCons:
Meal was unpalatable after several bits, completely not edible, as if it sat several days in the kitchen beforehand, chicken was microwaved chicken stripes half cooked.Reviewed by Anonymous Review Date: 03/18/2023

April, 2022 Trip -- We had a non-park day during our stay at POR and didn't feel like going anywhere (was spring break and VERY crowded everyone with no reservations on our last minute trip). Booked a 6pm dinner ADR at about 4pm. It had been a very long time since we had eaten here (10+ years) since it really wasn't anything special. We were really surprised. Service was very good--Manager came and did 2-3 table touches during our meal. My wife got the salmon and I tried the all you can enjoy platter. We were both really happy with our food. The brisket would have been better at Polite Pig but was very good....salmon portion and taste very good too.
Pros:
Service....food quality above average, Yehaa Bob is back and as good as ever right next doorCons:
Pretty loud and a little pricey for a not very fancy place.Reviewed by Anonymous Review Date: 03/27/2022

I am a vacation club member for over 20 years and ate in just about every restaurant. I have to say tonight’s dinner was the worst dinner I ever had. I ordered chicken with a side of Mac and cheese. The chicken was good although one piece and very small. The Mac and cheese came out cold. I send it back and the second one came out very dry. My wife ordered the prime rib and it was as dry as a piece of leather. The beans and potatoes were nothing to write home about. It seemed like we were served yesterday’s left overs reheated. The waiter was very apologetic and sent the manager over. We were unapologetically offered one piece of cake for our trouble. With their track record I could imagine how dry that was. She was going to “speak” to the chef, never saw her again.
So we paid $60 for a small piece of chicken and corn bread.
Pros:
The corn bread was very good and the server was very attentive and tried to accommodate us.Cons:
Lousy, dry food and no one took responsibility for the bad food.Reviewed by JanelleB Review Date: 04/30/2020

Wonderful southern Louisiana food. Love the appetizers and main entrees. Beautiful resort to visit. You can also take the boat from Disney Springs or resorts along the way.
