Re-Imagined Disney Magic – Dining Part 1

Since it was a short two-night cruise, we didn’t have a lot of meals on board. In this blog I thought I’d share photos of some of the dining locations. Daisy’s De lites replaced Goofy’s Galley. Still the same kinds of foods – sandwiches (including paninis), wraps, salads, and fruit. I especially enjoy the wraps, … Continue reading "Re-Imagined Disney Magic – Dining Part 1"

Re-Imagined Disney Magic Part 1 – Overview

Posted on
Lee and I have just come off a two-day cruise of the Re-Imagined Disney Magic. There have been a lot of changes, so there was a lot to try and cover in just two days! Disney Cruise Line considers the Magic their flagship, so rather than simply trying to re-make the Magic into the Dream class of ship, they chose to continue to innovate and bring something special to the Magic. While there are some new elements inspired by the Dream class, they developed new enhancements that are exclusive to the Magic, so the Magic retains its own identity.

Review: Disney Cruise Line’s Halloween on the High Seas

Posted on
This fall, Disney Cruise Line has introduced new Halloween-themed entertainment on all four of its ships. Such new features might seem to be nothing but a treat, yet -- according to some firsthand accounts -- some came off a little trickier than other holiday activities we experienced in the past. Last week, some of my extended family members sailed on the Disney Dream for a three-night cruise.

We were supposed to be on the Disney Magic October 20-25 for the first cruise after its “re-imagining”….but last Thursday we received notification from Disney Cruise Line that the cruise had been canceled. The Magic encountered weather during the Atlantic crossing that delayed work, and it just wasn’t going to be ready. We had planned … Continue reading "Re-Imagined Disney Magic"

Disney Parks Moms Panel application process begins today

Posted on
Get ready, get set, type! The application process for the 2014 Disney Parks Moms Panel begins today, and those interested have until lucky Friday, Sept. 13, to express their interest. The Disney Parks Moms Panel has evolved from its inception in 2008, but its goal remains the same: to provide vacation-planning advice from adults in families that are interested in and knowledgeable about the Disney properties. For the most part, the panelists' jobs are to answer a number of written questions each week, though there also are some public appearances by the group. In exchange, The Walt Disney Co. provides the selected panelists with a paid trip to one of the Disney properties for training, which is required. In the past, the trip has been scheduled during the first half of December and includes the panelists' immediate family members.

Tips for dining with young kids on Disney Cruise Line

Posted on
For many adults, one of the pleasures of going on a cruise vacation is the food. Not only are the portions abundant, but so are the choices. In addition, passengers have the opportunity to dress up and be served multiple-course dinners in beautifully decorated restaurants. Many guests enjoy this change of pace from their everyday lives, and they look forward to the experience each night. This is true of parents, too, but those of us with young children probably need to take a little time at home to help our kids prepare for these "fancy dinners." And we need to adjust our own expectations, as well.
