Disney World Is About to Get a LOT More Crowded

If you’re a Disney fan, you’ve got quite a bit to look foward to in the domestic theme parks.

Magic Kingdom

New lands and attractions are currently being planned and constructed in Disney World and Disneyland Resort, so the coming years are going to be BUSY. But before that, we’ll likely start to see more crowds in the parks very soon.

In The Walt Disney Company’s most recent earnings report, we got an update on crowds and attendance in the domestic theme parks. The report noted, “We are encouraged by current demand and expect year-over-year attendance at our domestic parks in Q3 to show improvement compared to Q2 results.”

What does this mean? Well, if you’re heading to the Disney parks in Q3, which goes from now until July 3rd, you can likely expect higher crowds than the parks have seen in the past few months. Why? We’ve got some ideas.

Hollywood Studios

For starters, it’ll soon be summer vacation on both coasts, meaning the parks are typically more crowded with people who have time off work and school. Also, this quarter includes the Memorial Day holiday, which, as a long weekend for many folks, is prime vacation time.

And at Disney World in particular, the coming weeks are absolutely LOADED with new things to experience. Magic Kingdom just got two updated rides — Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, and EPCOT is launching the new Soarin’ Across America at the end of May.

In Hollywood Studios, also on May 26th, we’ll get the opening of The Walt Disney Studios, the new land replacing Animation Courtyard, along with the new Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! show and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets. Animal Kingdom isn’t left out, either — it’s getting Bluey’s Wild World, the first time that character will appear in Disney World.

Also, Cool KIDS’ SUMMER is returning, giving lots of special offerings and entertainment for families with little ones. With all these happenings, hardcore fans are bound to flock to the parks at the end of May and throughout June.
