A brand-new daytime historical theme park expansion is coming to the United Kingdom in Summer 2026, promising to take guests on a journey through time. The team behind Kynren, one of the UK’s most popular live-action historical experiences, has announced plans for Kynren – The Storied Lands. This massive new expansion will transform the nighttime show into a full-scale, daytime theme park unlike anything else currently operating in the region.

What Is Kynren?

Since opening in 2016, Kynren has become a must-see attraction in Bishop Auckland, County Durham. The experience currently exists as a 90-minute nighttime live-action spectacular that depicts more than 2,000 years of British history and mythology.

Guests witness scenes ranging from the Roman conquest of Britain to King Arthur’s legendary quest for the Holy Grail, all the way through Winston Churchill’s iconic “Finest Hour” speech during World War II. Kynren has built a reputation for large-scale productions, emotional storytelling, and giving guests high-value experiences. Now, its creators are ready to take that storytelling to the next level.

Introducing Kynren – The Storied Lands

Set to open in Summer 2026, Kynren – The Storied Lands will be a daytime historical theme park located within the wider Kynren park. Rather than focusing on traditional rides, the expansion will emphasize live-action shows, immersive environments, large-scale sets, animals, and cutting-edge effects to bring history and myth to life. As visitors step into the park, they will be transported back to Fruma: Neolithic Britain and the era of the first settlers.

Five Monumental Shows Anchoring Phase One

The first phase of Kynren – The Storied Lands will debut with five major shows and immersive experiences, each set in its own richly themed environment:

  • Land of the Vikings
This high-energy Viking show will feature clashing warriors, raging fires, and intense multi-sensory effects, offering a dramatic look at Viking life and battle.
  • Victorian Adventure
Set on the gas-lit streets of Victorian England, this experience invites guests into an immersive world filled with larger-than-life characters and period storytelling.
  • Legend of the Wear
A giant lake becomes the stage for thrilling water stunts in a retelling of the Lambton Worm myth, complete with a monstrous creature rising from the water in a dramatic spectacle.
  • The Lost Feather: An inspiring and visually stunning experience centered around the relationship between birds and humanity. Set on a breathtaking stage inspired by a bird’s nest, this show will explore the beauty, power, and fragility of bird species from around the world, highlighting their struggles and triumphs in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Fina
The experience builds to an epic medieval finale where knights clash on horseback, and a fearless female warrior takes center stage in a breathtaking display of horsemanship and daring stunts.

A Conservation-Focused Show: The Lost Feather

One of the most unique experiences planned for the park is The Lost Feather, a visually stunning and conservation-led show centered on the relationship between birds and humanity.

Performed on a massive stage inspired by a giant bird’s nest, the show will feature spectacular free-flight bird displays, emotional storytelling, and a focus on rare and endangered species. With a planned 3,600-seat arena, The Lost Feather is designed to be both a highlight of the park and a meaningful call to action for wildlife protection, blending entertainment with environmental purpose.

Epic Scale, Real Animals, and a Historic Backdrop

Across the park, performers will bring history to life on enormous sets enhanced by special effects, with Auckland Palace providing a dramatic historical backdrop.

Majestic horses, free-flying birds, and other animals will be woven into the shows, reinforcing the connection between history, mythology, and the natural world. Importantly, Kynren – An Epic Tale of England will continue its Saturday night performances alongside the new daytime park, allowing guests to experience both offerings.

Even More Expansion Already Planned

The ambition doesn’t stop with phase one. Future development plans include additional attractions themed to Roman Britain, the Tudors, maritime conquests, and legendary stories like Excalibur and Robin Hood, ensuring that repeat visits will always offer something new.
