The Disney Items We Thought Were Dumb — Until We Used Them

We will be the first to admit that just because something has gone viral doesn’t mean it’s a good product. Virality is a double-edged sword because it normally means something is really good or really bad.

There are tons of different “must-haves” for Disney World, and we thought these were so dumb when we saw them online. Then we tried them… and let’s just say we won’t go to the parks without them now.

We have tested hundreds of products in Disney World, literally. From tennis shoes to hotel finds, there are tons of ways to make your trip even better. There are also tons of items that just aren’t worth your money. We thought these three items would fall into that category until we tried them ourselves. Starting with the VentaPak Backpack Spacer.

This accessory attaches to your backpack to give you some space between the bag and your back. This might not seem like a necessity, but the moment you’re in Disney World in the summertime, and sweat is rolling down your back, you will be SO grateful for it. It creates a nice breeze to help your body regulate its temperature throughout the day, and it even helps redistribute some of the weight from your bag. It is so effective and truly made our days easier. Once we took it out of our bag, we realized just how much we missed it!

Next, we had low expectations before we personally tried the Amken Waist Fan.

We thought this would be just like any other fan for Disney World, but honestly, we were wrong! This fan attaches to your waistband or a neck strap so you can adjust as needed throughout the day. This fan is great for anyone who carries a lot of heat in their midsection throughout the day. When we put it to the test, we really liked the 3 different speeds and found that it can last for 4 hours on high, nonstop. When we were using it on high, it actually made us cold in certain areas, which felt almost unreal on a Disney summer day. We are BIG fans now.

Finally, the ones that made us roll our eyes when we saw them were the Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers.

We will be so honest and say we had no faith in these when we were trying them, but they seriously did the trick! These aren’t necessarily 100% fool proof, but when it came to protecting our expensive tennis shoes, they were amazing! They slipped right on over our shoes and zipped up the moment the rain started. Wet shoes and socks have genuinely ruined our park days before, so these covers basically gave us rainboots on the go without the weight and need to carry two types of shoes. As often as it rains in Disney World, these are real life savers.
