3 Disney World Souvenirs I Bought Because I Think They’ll Go Up in Value — And What I Paid for Each

If you’re going to drop a pretty penny on your love of all things Disney, you might as well make it an investment.

There are all types of souvenirs you can buy at Disney World — small little tokens to commemorate your visit to massive, big-budget gifts that remain major keepsakes for the rest of your life. However, if the goal is to maybe one day sell your souvenir because it will be of higher value, you might look at Disney souvenirs as an investment opportunity.

While we love to keep our Disney World souvenirs, we can honestly say we’ve considered parting with some rare and nostalgic merch years from now when it becomes too valuable to ignore. In fact, there are at least 3 souvenirs we’ve gotten that we expected to become way more valuable with time.

Limited Edition Pins

The first souvenir is a limited edition pin. 

Disney World often sells special, limited edition pins that can wind up in the range of $30 to $50. While that seems expensive for a pin, you’re really paying for rarity.

These pins can garner long lines in the morning and sell out fast. Ultimately, Disney Adults take these pin droppings seriously, and getting one should be considered a great achievement.

In the case of these pins, the second you buy them, their value goes up. Reselling happens immediately and usually at pretty significant upcharges. Honestly, the same can be said about most limited-release merch items. Cups, shirts, bags, ears — you name it. If it’s Disney, and it’s rare, expect the value to skyrocket.

Comic Books

While not a Disney World exclusive, it’s still pretty cool that you can get comic books at Disney World.

You can pick up Marvel comic books at places like the Marvel Super Hero Headquarters at Disney Springs for face value (single issues typically cost less than $5) and really build up a collection. Comic collecting and garnering value over long periods of time isn’t exactly a Disney pastime, but Marvel’s connection to Disney has brought the hobby into the Disney fandom.

Comic preservation and reselling have been ultra-lucrative for decades, and it’s neat that Disney World now offers the opportunity for newcomers and dedicated comic collectors alike to enjoy the hobby.

Park Maps

This next souvenir COSTS YOU NOTHING outside the price of admission.

Park maps won’t cost you anything extra, but a lot of folks forgo picking these up because you can get a digital map on your phone thanks to the My Disney Experience app. Still, there is significant value monetarily in a map.

These maps change all the time, and there are even event-specific maps — creating a nostalgic demand for rare maps no longer in production. Over the years, Disney maps have become specialty items, increasing their value tremendously. You can pick up these maps FOR FREE now, and reap the benefits later.

We want to emphasize that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with cherishing your Disney souvenirs and keeping them forever. Many times, these gifts contribute to core memories and remind us so much of why we love visiting Disney World.
