NEWS: The NEW Virtual Queue for Disney’s Newest Attraction Filled Up in SECONDS

A new attraction is open in Disneyland!

Disneyland

If you love Disney history, you’re going to want to see Walt Disney: A Magical Life! This new show features the first-ever animatronic inspired by Walt Disney and is opening as a part of the Disneyland 70th Anniversary celebrations. If you’re planning on checking out this brand-new attraction, you need to know one thing first!

The day is finally here! Walt Disney: A Magical Life is now open. The new stage show tells the story of Walt Disney, taking you inside his office, where you can see all the magical ideas Disney is dreaming up.

The Walt animatronic

The show features a Walt Disney animatronic who tells you the story of Disney through his eyes. We got a special preview of this show, which will rotate with Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. If you’re hoping to see the show, you should know that you can’t just hop in line!

The new attraction utilizes a virtual queue system for those who want to watch it. To join the queue, you’ll need to download the Disneyland app and go to the virtual queue section.

And on the first day of the attraction being open? Well, it filled up FAST. There are two drops at 7AM and again at noon, and the 7AM drop was gone in seconds this morning.

The good news is that if you’re going today, you have a second chance to try for the virtual queue! The 7AM drop requires guests to have a park reservation and a valid ticket to enter. However, at the noon virtual queue drop, you must be physically INSIDE Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure (but if you’re in DCA, you need a Park Hopper ticket).

Walt Disney – A Magical Life

Disney has confirmed the standby line will not be available while the VQ is in place. At the time of writing, there is also no mention of a Lightning Lane, meaning the VQ might be the only way to see the attraction in the first little bit it’s open. Disney hasn’t confirmed when the VQ will end, so it could be a week, it could be a month, or it could be a year!

During our preview of the show, Tom Fitzgerald, Senior Creative Executive of Walt Disney Imagineering, said, “We wanted the show and story to appeal to all ages, and while some of our younger audience may not know as much about Walt Disney, we felt his story could be inspirational to them. Follow your dreams, turn setbacks into success, never give up, and give the world your very best.”
