REVIEW: NGL, This Disney Restaurant Simply Missed the Mark

Dining in Disneyland is one of our favorite things ever!

Disney California Adventure

From those amazing churros to the newest snacks for the 70th Anniversary celebration, there is no shortage of things to chow down on. Now we’re headed to one cart in Disney California Adventure to see how it’s holding up and if it’s still worth your time and money.

When it comes to California Adventure dining, there are some stellar options. One that we’ve loved in the past is Shwarma Palace in Avengers Campus! It’s a walk-up cart sitting right outside of WEB Slingers in the land.

The cart!

This cart serves up shwarma (no surprise) with savory fillings for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! If you’ve seen The Avengers, you might know in the post-credit scene that the team all stop to grab some dinner after the battle at Shwaram Palace, so we love that we can grab a bite here too.

The menu!

During our latest stop by the walk-up stand, we grabbed both of the snack options that are available during lunch and dinner. (The breakfast is definitely recommended if you swing by earlier in the day.) First, we tried New York’s Finest for $14.49.

New York’s Finest

This is a Chicken Shawarma Wrap that comes with garlic tahini and is served with fresh vegetables and cucumber tzatziki sauce. Sadly, this one didn’t live up to our expectations. Without the tzatziki sauce on the side, the wrap would have been extremely dry. The chicken itself had a grainy texture to it that was pretty off-putting, in addition to it being dry and a bit bland.

A closer look at the sides!

Thankfully,  the side salad that came with it was very tasty! The dressing is delicious and has a sour vinaigrette taste. Unfortunately, the lettuce was very wilted, but we think if it were fresh, it would have been a perfect little side for the price. For our second snack, we grabbed the Plant-Based Impossible Victory Falafel for $14.49.

The plant based option!

It’s made with falafel and cauliflower with carlic-hummus spread in a pita wrap, served with plant-based yogurt tahini sauce. Similarly to the other option, this guy was pretty dry. The extra sauce was much needed. The cauliflower was a bit mushy to us, but luckily, the falafel was super tasty. They were soft, moist, and had a bit of a kick, which we enjoyed.

The sauce on it!

Ours was lacking the garlic hummus, but the pita was moist and fluffy, which we appreciated. It didn’t knock our socks off, but it was tasty! This stand has the ability to be really good, but it just wasn’t this time around.

both wraps together!

We’re hoping maybe our next stop by will be a bit better than this one. If you really want to dine like an Avenger, we recommend stopping by for breakfast or going over to Pym’s Test Kitchen. As always, be sure to keep following AllEars for more food reviews and updates!
