There's a NEW Baby Giraffe in Disney World and I'd Protect Him With My Life

EVERYONE STOP EVERYTHING! Something very important has just happened in Animal Kingdom, and we all need to celebrate!

Any time a new baby animal is born in Animal Kingdom, it’s cause for celebration, but this one is special. Why? It always feels more special when the newborn is your FAVORITE animal, and it’s finally my turn — a new baby giraffe has joined the savanna in Animal Kingdom, and I am FLIPPING OUT!

Animal Kingdom’s gorgeous Masai giraffe, Mara, has given birth to a new baby boy, and as of today, April 7th, they walked out on the savanna for the first time together!

This isn’t the first time Mara has expanded her family, though — it’s actually the third! Her first calf, Jabari, was born in 2019, and now, Tucker has entered the world. Not only that, but this is the first baby giraffe born at Animal Kingdom since 2021 when Lily gave birth to her calf.

This is especially important because the Masai giraffe is classified as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, with only about 30,000 left in the world. Tucker’s birth is part of the Species Survival Plan, which “focuses on maintaining genetic diversity of the giraffe population and helping to prevent giraffes from becoming extinct,” according to Dr. Mark Penning, Vice President of Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment.

You can now catch a glimpse of Mara and Tucker out on the savanna while you’re on Kilimanjaro Safaris if they happen to be out at the time! I personally can’t wait to get back to Disney World in a few weeks and hope to catch sight of them. I can tell you now it would easily make my whole trip!
