Hurricane season is here, meaning it’s time to keep a careful eye on any weather disturbances happening in the Atlantic Ocean if you’re planning a trip to Disney World.

The season began on June 1st and will last through November 30th, so we have several more months of potential bad weather. We previously followed the path of Hurricane Beryl, and now another storm is on the way that could cause severe weather in Disney World. We have an important update about that potential storm.
Recently, a state of emergency was issued for 54 counties in the State of Florida ahead of the potential storm, including Osceola County and Orange County, where Disney World is located. At the time, a major storm system was moving towards Florida, with a potential hurricane making landfall as early as August 3rd.
Now, that disturbance, which has been tagged as Tropical Cyclone Four, is located over Cuba. This could bring tropical storm conditions, including heavy rainfall and flash flooding, over portions of Florida this weekend and through Wednesday. Here’s the path the National Hurricane Center expects the storm to take.

A Tropical Storm Warning is currently in effect for the southwest coast of Florida from East Cape Sable to Bonita Beach. A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for the Florida Keys south of the Card Sound Bridge, including the Dry Tortugas, the southern coast of the Florida peninsula east of East Cape Sable to the Card Sound Bridge, and for the west coast of the Florida peninsula north of Bonita Beach to Aripeka. No warnings or watches have been issued for Disney World yet, but weather forecasters are keeping a close eye on the storm.
The storm is expected to strengthen into a Tropical Storm tomorrow (Saturday) to become Tropical Storm Debby. If you’ll be in the path of the storm, it’s recommended that you put away or secure any outdoor items and have a hurricane kit at the ready. If you’re staying at Disney World, listen to instructions given by Cast Members at your hotel, who are strained to keep you safe.

Universal Orlando recently issued an update about the storm, stating that for now, park hours and operations would remain normal. However, visitors are encouraged to keep an eye on Universal’s social media accounts for updates.
