NEWS: Disney Reveals Cash Dividend INCREASE of 50%

During the company’s first-quarter earnings call of 2024, we learned just how Disney is doing financially, along with a whole host of other things. But, for the Disney shareholders out there, we’ve got an announcement you won’t want to miss.

The Walt Disney Company brought back its cash dividend back in November 2023, and it doesn’t look like that will be going away anytime soon. During the 2024 Q1 earnings call on February 7th, the Disney Board declared a cash dividend of $0.45 per share.

This is an increase of 50% versus the last dividend that was paid out in January 2024.

The dividend will be payable on July 25th, 2024 to shareholders of record at the close of business on July 8th, 2024.

This is likely welcome news for shareholders as the latest dividend was the first since they were suspended in 2020. At the time, the dividend was $0.88 per share. So, while the current dividend isn’t quite that high, it is an increase.

As far as the rest of the earnings call news goes, Disney revealed revenues for the quarter were comparable to the prior-year quarter at $23.5 billion. Diluted earnings per share increased to $1.04 from $0.70 in the prior-year quarter.

Disney also reported generating all-time records in parks revenue, operating income, and operating margin in the first quarter.

We also learned that Disney will be acquiring a small equity stake in EPIC Games. This will bring together Disney’s franchises with the hugely popular Fortnite game. Not only that, but Disney+ will be the exclusive streaming home of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Movie.
