Disney live-action films have featured some incredible reimagined costumes for our favorite classic characters.
From Belle’s enchanting ball gown to Maleficent’s intimidating horns, costume designers definitely know how to amp up the Disney magic! If you’ve ever wanted to see what these costumes actually look like in person, now is your chance thanks to a new Disney costume exhibit!
According to NBC, “Heroes and Villains: The Art of the Disney Costume” is a new exhibit coming to The Seattle Museum of Pop Culture this Summer. Over 70 original pieces will be featured that have never been seen before outside of Disney Fan Club Expo!
One of the most exciting pieces in the collection is Cinderella’s magnificent blue ball gown from Disney’s 2015 live action Cinderella. Over 10,000 crystals and 270 yards of fabric were used to craft this magical masterpiece!
There are ten Cinderella pieces in total, including glass slippers, tiaras, and even more ball gowns!
Work from nineteen different designers who have worked on Disney films will be shown at the exhibit. Out of those, eleven of the designers have won or been nominated for Academy Awards!
Designers include Sandy Powell (Cinderella, Mary Poppins Returns), Colleen Atwood (Dumbo, Into the Woods), and Jacqueline Durran (Beauty and the Beast).
Another fun feature of the exhibit is a “Magic Mirror” that will let people “try on” different costumes! Visitors can use the mirror to see themselves in the costumes of Mary Poppins, Maleficent, and Jack Sparrow!
The items will show of the detail of the costumes of some of our favorite Disney heroes and most despised villains! Other pieces in the exhibit include military uniforms and sorcerer’s capes
You can attend the exhibit at Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture beginning June 5th for between $32 and $37. These items should be a wonder to behold in person and allow you to really appreciate the intricacy and work that goes into making a Disney film look great on screen!
