The COVID-19 vaccines have been released across the nation administering the doses to first responders, residents of long-term care, and more individuals.

More doses are being created and shipped while each state attempts to treat individuals. Recently, the vaccine was expanded to those who are 65 years and older in Florida. Dr. Anthony Fauci, who is the Chief Medical Advisor to the President, gave a White House Briefing on January 21st explaining the vaccination plan and how the administration will handle distribution in the next coming months.
President Joe Biden plans to vaccinate 100 million people in his first 100 days of office. During the briefing, Fauci was asked whether it was still a viable goal to have most people vaccinated by the middle of 2021. Fauci responded that the goal of 100 million vaccinations “in the first hundred days is quite a reasonable goal.”

Fauci went on to say, “If we get 70 to 85 percent of the country vaccinated — let’s say by the end of the summer, middle of the summer — I believe by the time we get to the fall, we will be approaching a degree of normality. It’s not going to be perfectly normal, but one that I think will take a lot of pressure off the American public.”

To clarify, a member of the press asked Fauci if by the end of the fall the majority of Americans will be vaccinated. Fauci responded with ” No, I didn’t say that. I said if we get the majority of Americans — 70 to 85 percent — vaccinated by then, we could have a degree of herd immunity that would get us back to normal.“ The goal is to reach 100 million vaccinated Americans in the first 100 days. And, if we can reach the bigger goal of 70 to 85 percent vaccinated individuals, then we may return to some amount of normalcy, according to Fauci.
