We’re looking forward to new Star Wars series, a highly-anticipated sequel, new series from Pixar, and so much more!! Earlier this year, Disney CEO Bob Chapek shared that the company would be heavily focusing on its direct-to-consumer business. The company has now surpassed 86.8 million Disney+ subscriptions across these services, smashing its initial goal.

Ultimately, Disney hopes to increase its number of Disney+ subscriptions to 230-260 million by 2024.  During the Disney Investor Day webcast today, it was announced that the company’s goal for its streaming service, Disney+, is to release upwards of 100 new titles per year. This content will extend across various channels including Star Wars, Marvel, National Geographic, Pixar, and Disney.

Disney’s intended projection for 2024 significantly surpasses goals from previous years, and Disney will be putting lots of money into this sector in order to achieve success. It’s projected that Disney will spend between $14-$16 billion dollars through 2024 on its streaming services. It’s estimated that $8-$9 billion will be allocated to Disney+.

Disney recognizes that Fiscal Year 2021 will result in peak operating losses, but is hopeful to achieve its goals by the time 2024 rolls around.
