It’s been a pretty HUGE week for Universal Orlando, and the news just keeps rolling.

After that huge announcement about the VelociCoaster’s name and opening date as well as a mock-up ride-through, we thought that maybe that would be the biggest thing Universal had to reveal all week.
However, Universal Orlando just confirmed that the parks will be bringing finger scanners back into the parks. Originally, guests would have a park ticket scanned and skip the high-touch measure before entering Universal for the day.
We are reinstating the finger-scan process for guests upon their arrival to our theme parks.

While there are still multiple health and safety regulations in place, Universal is bringing the finger scanners back (most likely due to the recent influx of crowds). Universal Orlando has stated that they will be sanitizing the scanner in between each travel party as well as providing hand sanitizer to guests before entering the parks.
All of our enhanced health and safety procedures will continue to be in effect, including sanitizing the scanner between each travel party and having hand sanitizer available for guest use upon entering the park.

Disney World may not be using finger scanners just yet, but this could still be a move towards the next phase of theme park reopenings. On top of the re-introduction of finger scanners, Universal Orlando has also decided to stop using distanced seating on select attractions like the Incredible Hulk Coaster and Rip Ride Rockit.
