Alan Menken is considered a Disney and Broadway legend, having written music for classics such as The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and more.
Now, Menken’s musical genius has won him the prestigious Max Steiner Film Music Lifetime Achievement Award. You might recognize the name Steiner as the composer known for Gone With the Wind and Casablanca.
The Max Steiner Award is presented by the City of Vienna to the world’s most prolific film music composers. Past winners have included other recognizable names such as Hans Zimmer and Danny Elfman.
The Max Steiner Award is only the latest recognition for Menken’s work. The legend has already won eight Oscars, eleven Grammys, a Tony, and many other honors.
