Let me make a pitch to you really quick: Legends of the Hidden Temple but Star Wars. Do you hear that? That’s the sound of millions of ’90s kids screaming in joy because that pitch is ACTUALLY HAPPENING.

Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge is coming to fulfill the Padawan dreams of younglings everywhere, and it’ll be streaming exclusively on Disney+! Read on for all the details!
The new show will be hosted by Ahmed Best, who is best known to Star Wars fans as Jar Jar Binks. Don’t worry, he’s not playing a Gungan in this show. Instead, he’s showing off his skills as an actor, dancer, and martial arts expert to serve as the show’s Jedi mentor. Joining him will be a humanoid droid companion played by Veep’s Mary Holland.
The show, which will be developed by Lucasfilm, features challenges on an unknown forest planet, a Jedi Star Cruiser, and finally the temple itself. The show will test young contestants’ abilities in the core Jedi principles of strength, knowledge, and bravery as they face thrilling and fun obstacles in an attempt to achieve the rank of Jedi Knight!
Lucasfilm’s senior director of Online Content & Programming, Mickey Capoferri stated: “This is definitely a kids game show like no other. The various challenges will test a Padawan’s connection to the Force in three locations — a forest planet, on board a Jedi star cruiser, and inside a Jedi Temple — immersing them and the audience in a fun, humorous, and exciting competition.”
Dan Silver, vice president, Originals – Unscripted Content, Disney+, chimed in with: “Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge brings together the best of Star Wars – competitive spirit, harrowing obstacles and a hero’s triumph over challenges – in a totally new format for the franchise. A game show set in the Star Wars galaxy is a perfect fit for Disney+.”
I’m really excited for this; It reminds me of my favorite game shows as a kid, like Legends of the Hidden Temple and Where In The World is Carmen Sandiego. Now if only they could get Rockapella as a Cantina band…
Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge will begin streaming on Disney+ in 2020. Let us know what you think in the comments!
