There is a TON to see and do at Disney World, but there’s one way to make it easier — Disney transportation!
Everyone warned me that Disney World buses were the absolute worst way to get around — slow, crowded, and frustrating. With so many other options like boats and the Skyliner, it’s easy to see why they get such a bad reputation. But after giving them a real chance, I realized something surprising: the transportation everyone loves to complain about might actually be one of the most underrated experiences in Disney World.
Disney Buses
Disney buses are the only transportation that can take you everywhere at Disney World! There are buses to and from every Disney hotel, Disney Springs, the water parks, and every theme park. You can even travel to a Disney Resort you aren’t staying at via a Disney bus from a theme park or Disney Springs.
They are relatively reliable. Disney has installed bus stop signs allowing guests to see the estimated time of the next bus. This is so helpful to know when the next one is on its way. The buses are usually on schedule, and while they do have some delays, we still find them to be more reliable than other transportation choices.
The bus is relaxing — especially in the middle of the day. Riding a Disney bus with the music playing and sitting inside a nice, cool bus can give you that boost of energy to keep you going! The air conditioning on the buses is the best out of the other forms of transportation, so sit back and relax.
Skyliner
I have a few beefs with the Skyliner. For one, the thought of getting stuck on one is just terrifying for me, and I can say that as someone who has been stuck before. I’ll give some context that it was only for 4 minutes, but it just really makes me uneasy. Am I the only one?
They are also dependent on the weather. When it storms, as it does in central Florida, the Skyliner can temporarily close down for the safety of the guests. While we appreciate being safe, this can be a real bummer if you need to get somewhere. They do run buses instead when this happens, but we have found that it can take a while for the buses to come and start running that route since it’s spontaneous.

Disney Boats
Disney boats can be scenic and relaxing — if the weather is perfect. When it’s very hot, raining, windy, or cold, they can be, well, not so fun. They can be weather-dependent; if it is storming, they might not run.
Guests are also limited in where they can go on a Disney boat. Only a few resorts have them, and they only go to select places, making them not as versatile. You can also have issues with some major closures, like the Sassagoula Boats. These are boats that go to Disney Springs and the Disney resorts around Disney Springs; however, during parts of the year, there is not enough water in the lake to allow them to run.
Monorail
We will give the monorail credit because there is nothing like riding the monorail into Magic Kingdom to start your park day off. However, they can have delays and even temporary closures due to mechanical issues.
Monorails can be pretty crowded during peak times of the morning and at park closure, leaving many guests standing very closely together. Many guests are also confused when they have to transfer monorails at the Transportation and Ticket Center. If you are going to EPCOT from Magic Kingdom, you do have to get off and switch monorails, and we have seen way too many guests accidentally stay on.
That’s why the Disney buses just hold a special place in our hearts. They are like an old, trusty friend who is always there — well, at least they are every 20 minutes.

I love the buses, but has anyone noticed the new seats are awkward? I’m tall but if I don’t sit at the edge my feet will dangle. And it seems like everyone sitting in a sideways seat gets a pole in their thigh.
As a taller person with long legs, I’m with you on the new seats. I never found that my feet dangled but it does seem like there are more poles than before, so the seats aren’t always the most comfortable especially for bigger people.
