The FUZZY Bug Rule You Need To Know Before Your Disney World Trip

Heads up! If you’re visiting Florida soon, there’s this weird thing you need to know about.

A warning about bugs!

According to News 6, there’s a fuzzy-looking caterpillar that you don’t want to touch. Here’s everything you need to know.

Meet the Tussock moth caterpillar. You’ve probably seen these little guys all over the place in structures, trees, and more, looking for places for their cocoons. If you touch them, you might develop a rash!

When you need to move them, it’s recommended to use gloves or a non-object like a business card to move them and to avoid direct contact. Insect expert, Adam Dale, said, “They have little spines on them that can break off into your skin, causing irritation. They look like little burhses along their back, but those are the ones you don’t want to come into contact with.”

If you do come in contact with them, you can remove any hairs with tape, wash the area with soap and water, and apply ice or a baking soda and water paste to soothe the skin.

Even their cocoons can have those irritating hairs, so you’ll want to clear the area of them once they become moths. You can use a broom to remove them.
