There are lots of things that can make travel days more difficult, and one of them just so happens to be something that can make you groan and roll your eyes whenever you have to deal with it — a breakout.

Have you ever gotten off a flight and soon after, your face has broken out? You swear you haven’t touched anything, you kept your face clean, but now? Yep, you’re either dealing with it and just embracing the natural, or wearing makeup a bit more heavily, or often, than you may have intended. However, there IS a way to avoid this annoying issue, and these are the products we’ve used to do so!
Airplane acne is caused by a few different things. When you’re in the air, the humidity in the cabin drops 10-20%, which causes your skin to dry out. To compensate, your skin produces more oil. Bacteria from the plane itself, combined with that excess oil, is what causes those breakouts. With that in mind, here are some of the things we use to avoid those breakouts.

We’re big fans of the Mario Badescu Facial Spray, since it not only hydrates your face, but has soothing aloe, herbs, and rose water.

We also love that there are different sizes, so you can try out the smaller size to see if you like it, and it’s easier to bring on planes. It’s simple, but it does make a difference!
A moisturizer is also very important, and we love the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream.

This is great for all skin types and is great to rehydrate your skin without spending an arm and a leg. It’s also not too thick, which we appreciate, because it doesn’t feel too cake-y!
Getting some of the excess oil off of your face can also be a big help, and that’s where the Clean & Clear Oil Control Film comes in.

This set comes with five packs, each containing 60 sheets, which will last you quite a long time! Even just one sheet will soak up almost all the excess oil on your face, and that can make a big difference.
Now this is one I myself have used for YEARS and cannot get enough of it. The Differin Acne Treatment Gel is fantastic to use when you first start noticing a breakout — I don’t travel without it!

What this does is it dries out the acne spots you see developing, helping them to move along quicker. I’ve used it for literal years, and it was a LIFESAVER during my acne-filled teen years, and it helps me out when stubborn breakouts arise now. My skin is also super sensitive, and this doesn’t give it any trouble at all.
If you’re traveling overnight on the plane or want to use a hydrating mask when you land, we recommend the LANEIGE Water Sleeping Mask.

It’s recommended to be used 3 times a week. You’ll apply it overnight, then wash it off in the morning. If you’re flying, that also means you can apply it at the start of your long flight, then wash it off around eight hours later.
We’re here to bring you all the latest suggestions to help make your trip smoother, so stay tuned to AllEars!
