REVIEW: You Can Almost Always Find Us in This Disney World Lounge, Sipping On the Best Drinks Out There

It’s no secret that there are SO many great restaurants, bars, and lounges where you can find incredible food and drinks in Disney World.

Let’s drink!

However, we don’t think there’s any restaurant, bar, or lounge as unique as AbracadaBar, a magician-themed lounge you’ll find on Disney’s BoardWalk. We recently visited Abracadabar, so join us as we try some food and drinks there, while we enjoy the quirky atmosphere.

Background

Yes, just like we said, this Disney World lounge has a magician theme, and a there’s a whole story that goes along with it. That’s because AbracadaBar was once a favorite hang-out spot for many magicians and illusionists in the 1930s, but they all mysteriously disappeared after one magician performed an all-too-convincing disappearing act. They were never heard from again…

Here’s what you need to know about dining at this restaurant.

Atmosphere

This restaurant’s vibe is based around its story, so you’ll find lots of evidence and memorabilia dedicated to some of the magicians who used to spend time at the lounge. Even the seating areas look like the kind of place magicians would hang out in, right down to the velvet sofas and magicians’ trunks that double as tables.

Even the lounge’s wallpaper has nods to certain popular magic tricks.

Posters on the wall honor the magicians who once called this place their regular watering hole.

The bathrooms are decked out to feel like backstage areas where these performers waited to go on stage and amaze their audiences with feats of impossible magic.

But enough about that, what are we eating and drinking?!

Food & Drinks

You’ll find drinks here themed to the space, as well as a few light bites.

First up, we grabbed the Pepper’s Ghost, a drink named after a special effect you’ll find inside the Haunted Mansion. This drink is made with SKYY Pineapple Vodka, Habanero, and Lime for $17.50. It’s heavy on the pineapple flavor, but there’s a spicy finish from the habanero. The burn is pleasant, though, and the pineapple is balanced by the lime juice. It’s light and not too sweet.

We also ordered the more classic Espresso Martini, made with Grainger’s Deluxe Organic Vanilla Vodka, Tia Maria Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur, Bols Crème de Cacao White Liqueur, and Espresso for $17.50. Our server highly recommended this, and we can understand why. It’s a coffee-heavy drink with a creamy texture. There’s also some vanilla in there that gives it a smooth finish. It’s a nice way to add a little caffeine boost to a cocktail.

We also grabbed some bites, including the Báhn Mì Sliders, made with Pork Belly, Marinated Cucumber, and Sriracha Aïoli for $14. These are made with perfectly cooked pork belly that mixes beautifully with the lightly pickled cucumbers and fresh shredded carrots. They may be small, but they’re big with flavor. The buns are also toasted, so you get some crunch. Are they pricey for their size? Yes, but they may just be worth it.

Banh Mi Sliders

Finally, we tried the Lump Crab Fries with Wasabi Aïoli, Doenjang, and Tobiko for $17. There is a LOT of fresh, sweet crab on these fries. The crab is also lightly seasoned and has a creamy finish. The aioli was supposed to have wasabi, but we didn’t really feel the burn from it. We might’ve wanted a little more just for some heat. The fries are nice and crispy. Overall, this is a large serving that can easily be shared.

So, should you head over to the BoardWalk to visit AbracadaBar?

Magic or Tragic?

This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…

    • You love a good theme. If you’re really into Disney storytelling and theming, you’ll want to spend hours here checking out all the details.
    • You’re looking for a cozy vibe. This lounge feels just like that…a lounge. It’s small, it’s cozy, and it’s comfortable.
    • You just want drinks or small bites. If you want some fun drinks, along with a few bites, this is your lounge.

You should skip this Disney World spot if…

    • You’re looking for a meal.  This is more of a lounge than a restaurant, and the food options are limited.
    • You’re not staying in the area or visiting EPCOT. You probably don’t want to make the trek over to the BoardWalk just for this lounge.
    • You have kids. This is pretty much an adult space, and it isn’t very kid-friendly.
