I thought this $25 Amazon fan was going to be useless at Disney World. I was very wrong.

But after spending a full day testing it in real Disney heat — indoors, outdoors, and everywhere in between — my expectations were completely flipped. This little gadget surprised me in ways I didn’t see coming, and by the end of the day, it had earned a permanent spot in my park bag.
I went into testing the AMKEN Waist Fan fully expecting to hate it. A clunky-looking fan? Worn around my waist? At Disney World? Everything about that sounded like a recipe for annoyance. And yet…here we are.

This fan is not for everyone — but for the right person, it’s shockingly effective.
If you’re someone who carries heat in your torso or midsection and overheats easily, especially at Disney World, this thing is a powerhouse. Our reporter, who tested this, is quite tall, and he figured that contributed to the weight feeling insignificant to him. For smaller wearers, the heft might be more noticeable, but the trade-off is serious cooling power. This isn’t a dainty breeze. On high, it pushes air so forcefully that at one point it made a single spot on his stomach too cold, and he had to reposition it — that’s air power!

That strength is really the selling point. There are three fan speeds, but honestly, if you’re carrying this thing, you’re using it on high — anything less doesn’t justify the weight when lighter fans exist. This is built for brutal Disney heat, not mild discomfort. We used it in a variety of scenarios, including clipped to shorts, propped up on a quick-service tray, and even leaned back against the belt clip indoors to amplify the existing A/C at places like Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. Every time, it delivered.
It’s also impressively versatile. You can clip it, wear it with the included belt, hang it on a lanyard (as long as the intake isn’t blocked), or use it handheld. There’s even a bright LED flashlight with multiple modes, plus both USB-C and standard USB charging ports. Its battery life genuinely surprised us — about four hours blasting on high, far more than we expected.
Now for the downside: the noise. It’s not deafening, but it’s constant. You will sound like you’re carrying a small vacuum cleaner around your waist. For us, that’s the biggest con, followed by the weight potentially being too much for some people.

Still, it does exactly what it claims. No false promises. It’s rugged, well-made, and honestly feels like something designed for camping or tactical use. We almost gave it five stars — but the noise keeps it at a solid 4 out of 5.
Would we buy it again? Without hesitation. Would we gift it? Absolutely — especially to someone heading to Disney World or anyone who struggles with overheating.

We didn’t expect to love this fan. But it won us over completely — noise and all.
In the meantime, we’ll be keeping an eye out for the latest Disney deals, so make sure you stay tuned to AllEars for more!
