We Got To Go BEHIND THE SCENES Of A NEW Disney Holiday Special

We can’t believe we’re saying this, but we got to go behind the scenes to see how a Disney special was filmed and created!

Disney invited us to the taping of ABC’s The Wonderful World of Disney: Holiday Spectacular, and we are still pinching ourselves! The special debuts on December 1st, but we’re bringing you with us to see just how it all got made.

If you have ever watched a Disney special and wondered how the crowd got to participate, so have we! This year, we got to find out, and it still doesn’t even feel real.

We attended two nights of taping to see how The Wonderful World of Disney: Holiday Spectacular gets made. Both nights took place from 3:30 AM and 9 AM so it wouldn’t interrupt normal park operations. The show features tons of celebrities like Gwen Stefani, Nicole Scherzinger, Trisha Yearwood, and more! Ginnifer Goodwin is narrating the special, and Derek Hough is hosting.

During our time in Hollywood Studios, we were escorted to where we signed release forms inside ABC Commissary. (Something you can’t say every day.) We were then escorted into Galaxy’s Edge to see the surprise performance from Good Charlotte!

Yes, we absolutely died! If you don’t know, Good Charlotte has been around since the 1990s and just released a new album in August. They rocked the galaxy (literally), and we loved being a part of it. The crowd was pretty small, and we got to watch them do a few takes of the song “Fairytale of New York”.

The other taping we got to be a part of was over in Animal Kingdom! This time, singer and actress Coco Jones was there to perform. Coco Jones is known for her performance in Bel-Air (The Fresh Prince of Bel Air reboot), but we remember her from her Disney days when she starred in Let it Shine!

Coco sang “Silent Night” and was joined by a choir, which included one of the candlelight processional conductors! We thought that was so cool. The sets, experience, and performances were seriously impressive. 

We loved getting to see the camera crew, staff, and everyone that it took to make this production happen.

We got to stay at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort during this special, thanks to the early call times, and they even had the Joffrey’s food truck waiting. This was seriously needed to make sure we were good and awake to enjoy the performances.

  • Lady A – “Wonderful Christmastime”
  • Mariah the Scientist — “Santa Baby”
  • Bebe Rexha — “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”
  • Nicole Scherzinger — “O Holy Night”
  • Gwen Stefani — “Shake The Snow Globe”
  • Iam Tongi — “Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride”
  • Trisha Yearwood — “My Favorite Things”

This is the special’s 10th anniversary. It will feature performances from Disney World, Disneyland, and Aulani! This show debuts on December 1st, 2025.  at 8 PM EST on ABC. It will then debut on Hulu and Disney+ the next day! We are still in disbelief that we got to go behind the scenes for this annual special, and we can’t wait to watch it as soon as it’s available.  Be sure to keep following AllEars for more Disney news and more!
