New Disney+ Streaming Deal Will Change How You Watch Live TV

Another change is coming to streaming, and it’s making us want to yell, “Please stop with the changes!” Even if it’s a positive change, it’s hard not to get thrown for a loop every time you log in to watch your favorite shows.

Your streaming services are changing again

This time, Fubo, Disney, and Hulu are joining together and changing how you watch live TV.

The Walt Disney Company has officially closed the transaction to combine FuboTV with Disney’s Hulu + Live TV. This creates the sixth-largest Pay TV company in the U.S. with nearly 6 million subscribers in North America.

With both Fubo and Hulu + Live TV together, there will be more than 55,000 live sporting events and entertainment-focused programming.

Fubo and Hulu + Live TV will be available to consumers as separate services, with multiple plan options. Hulu + Live TV will continue to stream on the Hulu app and be offered with Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+. Fubo will continue on the Fubo app.

The combined business will have access to a $145 million term loan that Disney is providing to Fubo in 2026 as part of this deal.

Andy Bird, Chairman of the Board of Directors, says, “It is a privilege to join Fubo as Chairman at such a transformative time for the company. Today’s announcement brings together two industry-leading brands and a compelling set of resources that uniquely position us to meet the evolving needs of today’s consumer.”

David Gandler, the Co-founder and CEO of Fubo, says, “Together with Disney, we’re creating a more flexible streaming ecosystem that gives consumers greater choice, while driving profitability and sustainable growth.”

Disney will own about 70% of the newly combined company, with existing Fubo shareholders holding about 30% interest. The combined company will use resources and support from Disney and the existing Fubo management team to focus on growth and profitability.
