“It’s a Glorified Kid Coaster “– Fans Reveal the Most Overrated Disney World Rides and These Answers Are Diabolical

Everyone’s got that one Disney World ride they just don’t get the hype about.

Peter Pan’s Flight

You know the one — it always has a massive line, everyone swears it’s “iconic,” and yet when you finally ride it, you walk off thinking that’s it? Turns out, a lot of you feel the same way. We reached out to you to find out your thoughts on the matter, and you did not disappoint. Your responses were strong, unapologetic, and in some cases, downright diabolical. Now, let’s dive into some of your top responses — and get ready, because these takes might ruffle a few Mickey ears.

We reached out to our followers on Facebook and Instagram to ask: “What’s the MOST OVERRATED ride at Disney World?” We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments!

What do you think?

Now, let’s go over some of your top responses!

Magic Kingdom

First up, Tommy kicked things off with, “Man overrated is tough. I look at it as ‘would I ride this unless I had a LL for it?’ MK-Peter Pan…but I really do enjoy the ride, just not going to wait the 60 mins it always seems to be at.”

Peter Pan’s Flight

And he’s not wrong — Peter Pan’s Flight has one of the most consistently long lines in the park. For a ride that lasts under three minutes, that’s a long time to stand in the dark queue surrounded by twinkling lights and nursery scenes. Sure, it’s charming and nostalgic, but it can be hard to justify an hour-long wait for a ride that hasn’t really changed in decades.

Then, Bella brought up a more recent addition: “MK: TRON Lightcycle / Run.” This one might surprise some folks since it’s one of the newest and flashiest coasters in Magic Kingdom. The launch is undeniably thrilling, and the aesthetics are next-level. But for many guests, the experience is over before you can even process it. TRON’s super short ride time has left some fans feeling like the hype outweighed the payoff — especially if you’ve waited over an hour.

Meanwhile, Diane had a classic choice: “It really depends on the audience. My family hates It’s A Small World because we were stuck on it many years ago and the music doesn’t stop when the ride does! It was pure torture and we haven’t been able to ride it since.” We’ve all been there. “it’s a small world” is pure Disney nostalgia, but that song is… unforgettable in every sense.

“it’s a small world”

And Chris added another old-school pick: “I think the tea cups. It’s a carnival ride to me.” For many, the Mad Tea Party is whimsical and fun — but others see it as something you could ride at a local fair, minus the Cheshire Cat theming and Fantasyland backdrop.

EPCOT

EPCOT might be known for its food and festivals, but even here, the rides are up for debate.

Tommy mentioned, “Epcot- Frozen. I wouldn’t wait more than 20 mins for Maelstrom. Definitely not waiting 90 mins for Frozen.” Frozen Ever After replaced Maelstrom in 2016, and while the new ride is packed with catchy songs and stunning animatronics, many fans feel the ride didn’t add enough to justify the wait times. The charm is undeniable, but when the line wraps around Norway, you can’t help but ask… is it that magical?

Frozen Ever After

Bella agreed, adding, “EPCOT: Frozen (good ride but not good enough for a 45-90 minute wait at all times).”

Then came Grant, who didn’t hold back on Test Track: “Test Track. Not a bad ride I guess, maybe it’s better for younger kids who want a ‘thrill ride,’ but for me, the inside portion of the ride was just fine, and the part that’s supposed to be the exciting climax, is literally just driving 65 mph in a car. I drive in a car faster than that all the time, so I don’t get it at all. Not saying I wouldn’t ever ride it again, but I wouldn’t wait in what have recently been wait times upwards of 95 minutes!”

Hop in!

This might be one of the most relatable takes yet. The initial design phase is fun, but for some, the outdoor “high-speed” finale doesn’t hit the same when your morning commute feels faster. EPCOT has so many other creative attractions that it’s easy to see why some guests are skipping Test Track these days.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

This park has some of the heaviest hitters — and apparently, some of the most divisive ones too.

Tommy didn’t hold back: “DHS-Slinky Dog, it’s a glorified kid coaster. Would never wait 80 mins for it if I didn’t have a LL.” There it is. The quote that inspired this whole post. Slinky Dog Dash is adorable, photogenic, and a total hit with families — but is it really worth a 90-minute wait? The ride is fun, but it’s definitely on the gentler side. If you’re expecting thrills, this one might feel a little… tame.

Bella added, “DHS: Mickey and Minnie Runaway Railway,” which might surprise a few people. This trackless dark ride is bursting with color, animation, and whimsy, but for some fans, it’s missing that extra spark that makes it feel “must-do.” Maybe it’s because it replaced The Great Movie Ride (and we’re still not over that loss).

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway

Felicia also mentioned Smugglers Run, saying, “Smugglers Run – unless you’re the pilot, or with a full cockpit of family and friends, it gets old fast.” That one hits home for a lot of Star Wars fans. The Millennium Falcon ride is impressive in design, but for some, if you’re stuck in an engineer seat pressing buttons instead of steering, it can feel more like work than play.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Finally, we’ve got Animal Kingdom, and the opinions here were just as split.

Tommy said, “AK- Navi River Journey. I may not even waste a LL on that one ever again!” This one’s a frequent offender in the “overrated” category. Na’vi River Journey is visually stunning — the bioluminescent scenery and the Shaman animatronic are gorgeous — but for a slow-moving boat ride that lasts only a few minutes, many guests walk away feeling underwhelmed.

Bella mentioned “DAK: Everest.” While Expedition Everest is one of the park’s biggest thrill rides, the Yeti’s long-term absence (or “disco Yeti” phase, if you know you know) might have taken some of the magic away.

  1. The comment was made that Peter Pan hadn’t changed in decades, implying that to be a bad thing. To my mind, that’s a key feature of its charm!

  2. The Mine train! Great for kids but if you’re an adult it is not worth the wait. Such a slooooow ride; it’s definitely lost its luster.
