NEWS: New Texas Theme Park Delays Opening Till Next Year

We’re looking forward to seeing how the new Universal Kids Resort comes along in Texas as building continues, but did you know there’s ANOTHER theme park in the state that coaster fans have been very excited for?

Circuit of the Americas is the premier destination for motorsports in the United States, and they’re adding a whole section of roller coasters in a new section of the area called Cotaland. The theme park was originally supposed to open in time for the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix in October, but now, it looks like that opening timeline will be pushed back.

According to Chron, Cotaland originally reported that they’d be open for guests in October, in time to celebrate the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix; that timeline is now looking shaky. COTA’s vice president of theme park operations recently shared that the park’s FIRST aspects may be available in 2026.

The finished park is supposed to feature 30 rides on 30 acres, and one of the most anticipated rides, the Circuit Breaker, had its first bolt secured in August, marking it as near completion of construction. Other rides mentioned for the park include a Gerstlauer Infinity Coaster called Palindrome, as well as a flume ride.

Already, expansion options are being explored for the land, with Houston real estate developer RIDA Development Corporation looking at building a 1,000-room hotel and convention center next to Circuit of the Americas. We’ll be curious to hear more about this upcoming park and its dozens of rides, as well as when it officially will open — although, we have to admit that if the final bolt for ONE ride was secured only last month, there are still weeks of testing left for these rides to ensure they’re safe, so we don’t feel October is a deadline they’ll meet.
